Another good day in our MLB betting tips last week as we hit on two of three bets. We have just two weeks left in the MLB season before our attention turns to what promises to be an exciting playoffs series. We preview the key games of the day this Tuesday, the 19th of September and give our betting tips below.
Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles (9.05am AEST)
Baltimore’s season might be over but Boston are still thick in the race for the AL East title with the Yankees and will be looking for another win to distance themselves from New York here. Right hander Doug Fister will be on the mound for the Sox in an attempt to redeem himself after a poor start in Oakland last weekend. Apart from that he had been excellent in his last four starts, giving up a total of five runs combined.
He’ll be up against Dylan Bundy who has been one of the better pitchers for the Orioles this season with a 13-9 record and an ERA just over 4. The Sox have been hot lately, winning 8 of their last 11 games and been particularly good on the mound. With much more to play for going forward we like them to earn the victory here.
TIP: Boston to win - $1.95 at Sportsbet
Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (9.05am AEST)
The Yankees will be desperate for a win here to keep themselves in contact with Boston at the top of the AL East. The only problem is that they’ll be up against Twins ace Ervin Santana who has a 15-7 record on the season and a tidy 3.35 ERA. Santana has been fantastic this season and while the Twins are out of the playoff race, he’ll be wanting to improve on his own record here.
Jaime Garcia will be on the mound for the Yankees against the team that he was traded from back in July. He has a 5-9 record on the season and is just 0-2 with the Yankees. The Twins should be fresh for the start of a ten-game road trip here and with Santana on the mound we like them to cause an upset here.
TIP: Minnesota to win - $2.45 at Sportsbet
Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies (9.05am AEST)
Arguably the best pitcher in the majors, Clayton Kershaw will be on the mound Tuesday against the Phillies. Kershaw is in line for another Cy Young award this season with a 17-3 record and a ridiculous 2.12 ERA. He has a great record against the Phillies lineup as well, with only one batter averaging over .300 against him.
Nick Pivetta will line up for the Phillies, trying to finish the season strong after two ordinary performances in his last two starts. He has a 6.75 ERA on the season so far and while the Dodgers bats haven’t exactly been in scintillating form lately, we think they do enough to support a lights out Kershaw here.
TIP: Total runs UNDER 7.5 - $1.96 at Ladbrokes
