Another great day for us in our Major League Baseball betting tips last Thursday, hitting on all 3 of our tips with ease to make it 11-8 since CrossRoads stepped away a few weeks ago and I took over. We’ll look to add a few more wins here as we preview the key games of the day this Tuesday, the 15th of August including the ESPN televised New York Derby.
New York Mets at New York Yankees (9.10am AEST)
The Yankees have just come off an extra innings loss to rivals Boston Red Sox and will be desperate to get back on the winners list after falling five games behind the Red Sox in the race for the AL East. Tuesday’s game will see two struggling pitchers go head to head as Rafael Montero for the Mets faces off against Luis Cessa from the Yankees.
Montero is just 1-8 on the season and has a whopping 6.48 ERA through his last four starts. Not much more can be said for Cessa, who will be filling in the starting rotation Tuesday for an injured Masahiro Tanaka. Tough game to pick with both pitchers in fairly average form. The Yankees bat and Aaron Judge in particular has been on fire of late, combine that with the fill in starter on the mound and it promises to be a high scoring game.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays (9.10am AEST)
Decent pitching mismatch here as the Blue Jays host the Rays from 9.10am Tuesday. Nick Tepesch will make just his second start of the year after allowing five runs in just over four innings in his temporary replacement role for the injured Joe Biagini.
He’ll be going up against Jake Odorizzi, who although he had a bad day in his last start against the Red Sox which saw him leave early through injury, has had a fairly decent season with a 6-5 record through 19 starts maintaining a 4.38 ERA. Both teams are bottom 10 in hits and runs so it could be the pitching that gets the job done here. We like Odorizzi in a bounce back game.
TIP: Tampa Bay Rays to win - $1.90 at Sportsbet
Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks (11.40am AEST)
Two of the best teams of the season so far will face off in the Houston Astros and Arizona Diamondbacks. Former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke will be on the mound for Arizona and looks unstoppable on the year so far. He suffered just his first home loss of the season against the league leading Dodgers in his last start and has a great 3.14 ERA on the season.
He’ll face right hander Colin McHugh who is making his fifth start for just one decision after missing the first few months of the season through injury. It’s likely the game will be won on the other side of the ball, however, with the league leading Astros defence going up against Greinke. The Astros have been susceptible to quality pitching this year and we think Greinke will have what it takes to manage their offence.
TIP: Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 – $2.30 at Sportsbet
