3-0 in our best NBA bets of the day on Saturday. We changed the mould a little bit and went for some player performance lines which paid dividends, so we’ll stick with what’s working today as we preview all three games in the NBA this Tuesday, the 7th of October (AEDT).
Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks (11.30am AEDT)
After the heartbreaking couple of opening games for the Celtics which saw a star recruit in Gordon Hayward go down with a broken leg and Boston lose the first two games, Brad Stevens men have rallied behind their coach to win the last 8 games on the trot and now boast the best record in the NBA.
Atlanta on the other hand are going through an expected rebuilding season and sit on the bottom of the Eastern Conference table with a 2-8 record. Dennis Schroder, when healthy has been a shining light for the Hawks, but he is surrounded by an extremely young core and the Hawks haven’t looked competitive in many games thus far.
Atlanta are coming off a big win over the Cavs on Monday but will be on the second day of a back-to-back here so we can’t see them being super competitive. The young combo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been great for the Celtics and should get a good run tomorrow, the Hawks lack perimeter defence so we think Jaylen Brown to score 15+ and the Celts to win is a good bet.
TIP: Jaylen Brown 15+ points and Celtics win - $2.40 at Sportsbet
Brooklyn Nets at Phoenix Suns (1.10pm AEDT)
Two teams who were predicted to be stinkers at the start of the season but have been fairly surprising face off here as the Nets travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns. The Nets might have only won 3 games on the season so far but have been competitive in a lot more, losing another three games by under 10 points.
The Suns overcame the Nets just last week in Brooklyn by 8 points and now have a 4-6 record on the season. Our good friend and NBA tipster ‘SmitsTips’ was adamant on the over for total Phoenix wins at the start of the season and they are on track after 10 games, already boasting some impressive wins over the likes of the Wizards and the Jazz.
The Nets will be without a few key players in Trevor Booker, Jeremy Lin and Quincy Acy for the clash while Phoenix boast a fairly clean bill of health. The Nets have the advantage of not having played on Monday but the flight to Phoenix will feel like a game. We like the Suns at home here in an even betting game.
TIP: Phoenix Suns -1 - $1.95 at Ladbrokes
Miami Heat at Golden State Warriors (2.40pm AEDT)
The Warriors have won their last three games after starting the season 4-3 and now return home to face a battered Miami Heat team. Miami will be without Dion Waiters for the clash while Hassan Whiteside and a cast of others are still battling niggles.
The Warriors are completely fit and have been shooting teams out of the gym since a loss to the Pistons last week. They have averaged 126 points over their last three games and show no sign of slowing down with Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Steph Curry all averaging over 21 points and all shooting at a ridiculous clip.
The line has started at 16.5 in favour of the Warriors and we think that is about right. Can’t see a way in which the Heat stay competitive in this one. Miami are 2-5-2 against the spread so far this season which is the fourth worst mark in the league.
TIP: Kevin Durant 30+ points and Warriors win - $3.25 at Sportsbet
