The 2016 MLB season continues with a showdown between AL East divisional rivals the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. Both teams are currently two games clear in the wild card race but Detroit is hot on their tails. This is a pivotal game for both clubs. Find out what we think with our 2016 MLB Betting Tips for the Redsox vs Orioles & August 17th games.
Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles (Wednesday 9:05am)
Baltimore sits two games clear of the Red Sox in the AL East division. Orioles just completed a series with the Giants, and even though they have struggled on the road they managed an 8-7 comeback over the Giants. Jonathan Schoop was the hero with a three run home run in the 9th. Orioles start with pitcher Yovani Gallardo who has a 4-4 record in an up and down season.
The Red Soxs have been solid offensively as of late. Mookie Betts belted three homeruns and had a career high of 8 RBIs in the drubbing of the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Keep an eye on Andrew Benintendi, the top prospect had only played 10 games and has already made a big impact. The outfielder is batting with a .379 and has a pair of doubles and 5 RBIs.

LA Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies (Wednesday 9:05am)
Philly sits 4th in the NL East division, but have won 4 on the trot including 2 straight against the Rockies. Pitcher Velasquez has an 8-4 record with a 3.94. Last time he met with the Dodgers he allowed 9 runs in just over 4 innings in LA. Dodgers are 6-4 in the last 10 and continue to move up the NL West division latter. Dodgers will bring to the mound Maeda 11-7 who still is the Dodgers most consistent pitcher. However, he didn’t have the greatest game against the Phillies last week when he allowed 3 runs in in 5 innings. I would expect the Dodgers to have Philly covered.
Tip: Total runs over 8.5 - $1.93 at Sportsbet
Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers (Wednesday 9:10am)
Left handed pitcher Danny Duffy will bring his A-game to Detroit Wednesday morning. Duffy has been unstoppable with a 9-1 record and a 2.82 ERA. Against the White Sox he pitched a complete game only allowing 1 run. This game should be a battle between pitchers with Detroit starting Justin Verlander, who is 5-0 over his last 8 starts. If he can continue in this fine form Tigers will be hard to beat with Verlander at the mound.
Tip: Total runs under 7.5 - $1.82 at Sportsbet
