It’s a good Wednesday of racing today with Sandown and Canterbury headlining the action across the country.
Billy Bestford highlights his best bets throughout the day.
Today's Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 6th
Sandown Race 2
(1) Chief Altony resumes today and he has the class to be competitive in a race like this. The 3kg claim is a big positive getting him in well at the weights in this company. He was last seen finishing a 1L 2nd to Mr Brightside who obviously won the Doncaster on Saturday. First up last prep he also ran 2nd to Corner Pocket so the form around him is clearly strong.
Canterbury Race 2
(2) Naval Seal has to be ready to win now 3rd up and rising to this trip. Threw away the win on debut and ran on well last start. Up to 1500m now is ideal and he handles the wet conditions. I’ve had an opinion on him all prep and this will be his best chance to break through.
Sandown Race 4
(3) Worsfold ran 3rd in that same Mr Brightside race as mentioned above. He was extremely unlucky throughout the whole prep and should have won more than the 2 races. He’s unbeaten twice from first up runs previously and can sprint well enough over this trip fresh. He gets a good apprentice claim and looks well in back in bm64 grade.
Sandown Race 5
Think (7) Don Diego can take the next logical step up here rising to 64 grade off the back of his strong debut win. Let down from the back to record a dominant 3.5L win and ran very good time in doing so. Up to 1400m now looks no worries at all and I think Lane can give him a nice run from barrier 3. Might need luck in the straight but if the gaps come he should go close.
Canterbury Race 5
(3) Andermatt flies fresh, winning 3/3 and has trialled up really well in the lead up for this. He loves wet tracks and he has a very smart horse. He’s won 3 from 7 and only missed the placings on two occasions. From a good draw I’d expect he is hard to beat today.
