Race 5: Attwood Marchsall Silk Stocking 1400m (3.33pm AEST)
(4) TYCOON EVIE – looks very hard to beat. Comes out of two G3 races this prep that she’s both run well in. Arguably should have won first-up when absolutely poleaxed near the finish line by JUMP THE BROOM (who lost the race on protest) before going to Hawkesbury LS running a nice fourth behind PRINCESS GRACE (did her best work late). Gets to 1400m today, third-up, peaking fitness-wise, J-Mac takes the ride, draws a lovely gate, and has run well at this track before. Deserved favourite.
(3) DZSENIFER Very consistent horse and has a proven record over this distance, condition and first up. Big price and worth a shout or one for the exotics.

Race 6: Brandons Gold Coast Guineas 1200m (4.13pm AEST)
(12) LADY LAGUNA – best each-way bet of the day in QLD! She’s well-weighted this scale as the top-rater and draws to get another cracking run in transit behind the speed for Thornton. Two-back she ran well behind AFT CABIN after doing it tough throughout and wanting to lay-in down the straight on a heavy track. She had a two-week freshen and went to Doomben LS (getting back on top of the ground) beating home a few key rivals here (SWISS EXILE, LUBRICATION, END ASSEMBLY) after being held-up when others had momentum, but she was strong late. She’s rock hard fit and can win again. Happy her way. YELLOW BRICK the obvious danger (trialed well and was uber impressive winning the King of the Mountain first-up last prep – how much work will they make him do from the gate?).
(2) YELLOW BRICK Cant fault the terrific start to his career and the early plunge. Only defeats have come on the wet tracks. That is the only concern. Will be in the finish.
(5) SPACEWALK First two runs this prep were very good, should’ve won first up. That was a horror show. Draws a nice gate today and can go close at a nice each way price. More rain the better.
