Sha Tin tonight under lights presents a few interesting races hosting debutants and lightly-raced talents. Zac Purton is on his way to a record-breaking season and could do so tonight with a few wins. Sit back and enjoy a quality Sunday night from Sha Tin.
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday July 9th
Race 6: The Chan Trophy C4 - 1200m (20:30 AEST)
(4) Happy Soul could well be the most likely winner in this field given his recent form and today's setup. He was withdrawn last time and declared lame, good prior from a wide barrier at Happy Valley, and was a noted bleeder when tailed off at Sha Tin the start before that. With recent excuses, and having only missed top 3 once in his last 6 attempts, i'm more than happy to side with this horse from barrier 1 with Hugh Bowman on tonight.
(2) Sweet Briar is the default 2nd option here having won last start although he didn't win very impressively and is up in weight and drawn less favourably here. Can sitll run well but may not have everything go perfectly as he did last time.
(6) Raging Blizzard is a debutant who hasn't done much wrong in his trials but hasn't caught the eye enough to warrant backing him on debut. Zac Purton booking for John Size is certainly worth interest but that alone can't be a reason to back the horse.
(4) Happy Soul e/w
$6.5/$2.3 (2 units)
Race 9: The Chow Silver Plate C4 - 1600m (22:05 AEST)
(2) War Weapon drops in class for this race and is capable of running well. He's been racing well recently but will be far stronger in this weaker grade tonight. He's well worth some interest given he's a similar price as he has been recently in tougher races than this.
(7) Looking Cool was able to beat the favourite in this race last start albeit from a more favourable draw than he has come up with tonight. He was as short as $6 last time and is double that price here just for drawing poorly and rising in weight. If he runs just as well he shouldn't be far away.
(3) Flying Mojito hasn't been trustworthy by any means lately having placed in plenty of his races but at short odds where he's been expected to win. Zac Purton is sticking with the horse who carries 61kg here and will be giving it his best to get him that elusive 2nd win
(2) War Weapon e/w
$9.00/$3.10 (1 unit)
Race 11: The Chairman's Day Hcp C3 - 1400m (23:15 AEST)
(8) Setanta has won and placed 2nd in his two recent runs from either sides of the barrier draw. He's drawn in the middle this time but will go forward and take luck out of the equation. He's an attractive e/w price and worth a bet.
(14) Silver Sonic will appreciate drawing gate 1 after jumping from gates 12 and 14 in his last 2 attempts. Harry Bentley will be looking for gaps late in the race and with luck this horse could get into the finish.
(13) Noble Win is another who will roll forward looking for a prominent position here. If he finds one and doesn't have to work too hard for it he can stick on well and fill the minors at a nice e/w price.
(8) Setanta e/w
$4.60/$2.00 (1 unit)
