Sha Tin today hosts a joint AWT and turf meeting presenting numerous exciting class 3 and class 2 events as the headline races. Some exciting progressive and unexposed runners go around today and look as though they've been place well in their respective races to win. Looking forward to a winning day leading up to a big meeting next weekend!
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday, April 23rd
Race 1
(2) Hava Nageela appears well placed to win again here after demolishing a field in this grade over this trip last start. He’s yet to reach his peak quite clearly being only a lightly-raced 4 year old.
(1) Rocket Spade is the obvious challenger for Hava Nageela here transitioning from recent turf races onto the AWT this time. It’s uncertain whether he’ll handle this surface and bring the quality of form he’s been displaying on the turf but if he does he’s a definite danger.
(3) So We Joy was tight for room behind Hava Nageela last start and although it didn’t appear as though he would’ve won with more room, he could’ve certainly finished closer. That puts him in contention for minors here.
(2) Hava Nageela win
$2.10 (2 units)
Race 3
(5) Dan Attack looks a capable winner on debut here for Jamie Richards and Zac Purton. He’s trialled with purpose leading up to his first race and is drawn well in gate 10 to attack the outside rail and perform well.
(8) Shinkansen is also a debutant who has demonstrated some ability in trials. Should be able to perform well here if he brings his trial form to the races.
(9) Star Club is the final debutant that rounds out the top selections in this event. He’s smaller than his fellow debutants, is less exposed from trials, and is drawn less favourably.
(5) Dan Attack win
$2.40 (2 units)
Race 9
(5) Beauty Inspire looks likely to run well and even win this race drawing well in gate 2 after closing off strongly last time from gate 12 with Zac Purton aboard. He’s led previously in races so should have enough gate speed to land a handy position.
(6) Run Run Buddy will need to overcome a wide gate here to win but has a win from gate 14 two starts ago so is definitely capable.
(4) Solid Impact is a serial placegetter and looks likely to finish in the minors again with a few horses in this race that look likely to beat him home.
(5) Beauty Inspire win
$3.60 (2 units)
Race 10
(10) Alacrity is quickly up in class after winning his 3rd race in Hong Kong last start. He did it easily to the eye so deserves to be right in contention up in class 2 this time down in weight.
(9) Sweet Encounter is an interesting runner in this race with Zac Purton jumping aboard this horse and leaving Alacrity who he rode to win last time in class 3. Sweet Encounter performed well last time and strung together numerous impressive performances earlier in his preparation so is definitely a chance.
(6) Champion Dragon shot to the lead last time to win comfortably over a talented field of horses in this class. He’s drawn well again in gate 2 so a repeat performance would not surprise.
(10) Alacrity e/w
$8.00/$2.80 (1 unit)
