Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday February 22nd 2023

Race 4

(4) River Ribble for Anthony & Sam Freedman is a first play of the day with the Ribchester/Donna Dinges gelding resuming from a spell. The gelding has won first up previously and his two runs prior to the spell were pretty decent, only beaten 4.4L in total in better races than this. The tongue tie stays on and he goes from a Benchmark (BM) 70 race at Flemington to a BM 54 race at Sale.

(1) Doull is the likely favourite and has drawn well in barrier 2. He has to carry 60 kilos but did win well at Flemington on debut. Fresh and could show up. Since then, the son of Redoute’s Choice has been mixing his form and he is another who is first up today and will be monitored closely.

(7) Soju Session was a last start winner (a nose) and will find this race a little harder. He has 2 wins to his name now but has to compete against some who have won 4 or 5.

(3) The Guava has been well traveled around Victoria recently and is very fit. He was backed heavily at Casterton when he came through for punters.

(4) River Ribble WIN *Scratched*

$3.70 (2 Units)

Race 5

(6) Rioyuki for the Matt Williams stable is the tip here. She is down in class and did fly home for 2nd at Flemington 2 starts back. After that she was just fair when unplaced at Warrnambool but she settled too close to the speed that day. Beau Mertens hops on for the first time and I think he will ride Rioyuki a bit quieter this time.

(5) Cobblestone Way for Pat Carey won well at The Valley last start and he will settle around midfield. He hasn't missed a placing in his short career.

(2) Hopkins is resuming and will be running on well fresh. Not sure he can win but he may be a value place bet.

(3) Lake Tai has drawn well in 1 but will find this harder than his Wodonga victory three weeks ago.

(6) Rioyuki WIN

$2.50 (2 Units)

Race 6

(10) Yosemite is a horse that I have backed a few times in her 29-race career. She goes well over this distance and his 3rd at Sale last start was very good when she came from off the pace as is her usual racing pattern. She is slightly down in class on recent runs at Flemington and Sale and she should be 100 percent wound up now with this being her 5th run this campaign. She will get back and will hope the pace is on.

(9) Lady of Light settled on pace when winning at Stony Creek last time and should be up there near the lead again. Freshened for this, Mertens takes the ride.

(7) Excel and Fly ran to the line when 2nd and that was in the same race as Yosemite. He has won over this distance and has placed twice from 4 attempts on the Good.

(8) Scientific gets the inside draw and may save ground. Another who will get back but may need to cut corners on the home turn.

(10) Yosemite WIN

$9.50 (1 Unit)

Race 7

(6) Samedi caught the eye when winning at Werribee 10 days ago and did win quite easily in the end after getting market support. He can go on with it from a good barrier (2) for Zac Spain on top. Should settle in the top 4 again.

(8) Remix is the danger because he does enjoy running on firm ground. He should have won first up and he is 100 percent fit now.

(12) A Votre Sante is first up after 5 months off but has run a 2nd when first up previously. He has had a few jumpouts in the last month so does have some fitness for Patrick Payne.

(9) Morecoruba has won at Sale on a Good track previously.

(6) Samedi Win

$4.80 (1 Unit)
