Rosehill Gardens Racing Tips: Saturday, August 17th 2024
Race 6: Sydney Markets Rosebud 1100m – 2:30pm (AEST)
(1) Shangri La Express $9.00/$2.20: 3YO Colt who looks to have the early speed here to ping to the front and dictate from start to finish. Speedy type who will be hard to catch. Boasts a nice record and goes well first up. Top pick for me.
(3) High Octane $6.50: 3YO colt who won nicely on debut and then had small amounts of luck in his next two. First up again now and has had some time to mature. Keen to see how he returns.
(4) Tarpaulin $3.50: 3YO Colt who is looking to make it three on the trot here and both recent wins have been impressive. Capable of going on with it, but meets tougher company now. Any rain about he will be a lock in.
(1) Shangri La Express E/W
$9.00/$2.20 (1U/2U)
Race 7: Toyota Material Handling BM88 1200m - 3:05pm (AEST)
(1) Bubbas Bay $7.00/$2.30: 5YO Mare who was far from disgraced when resuming last start on the heavy deck. She will only be improving second up now and is unplaced when second up. She gets out to 1200m now where she is a five-time winner. Draws a nice gate and looks as though she will map to get the run of the race. She was terrific in QLD to end her prep last time out winning three on the trot over 1200m. One of which was a demolition job and the other two were tough gritty wins which shows the horse has the will to win. Expecting to see her get into the run of the race here and showing that nice TOF down the straight. Gets in well at the weights with a 3kg claim here too.
(2) Felix Majestic $8.50: 5YO who tried to pinch it last start in BM94 grade and tired late. Drops back in trip now which looks to suit and down in class. Maps again to lead and will be giving the others something to catch. If the pattern is favouring leaders in the early races id be more inclined to jump on.
(5) Kazou $4.60: The early favourite here and looks to map ideally just off pace in behind the front runners. Expect a late charge and J-Mac is in the saddle to boost confidence. Watch the market. Main danger.
(1) Bubbas Bay E/W
$7.00/$2.30 (1U/2U)
Race 8: Precise Air Hcp 1400m – 3:45pm (AEST)
(4) Hinged $5.50/$2.10: 6YO Mare who hasn’t won for a long time, but hasn’t been disgraced in any of her performances. She has competed in 18 Group 1 Affairs and earned nearly $2million for her owners. She resumes today after two trials where she’s been well held. Draws barrier 9, but generally jumps well and expect her to get a nice sit up on the speed here as there doesn’t appear to be a real lot of other speed on paper. She gets in very well at the weights with a 3kg claim and her best is good enough to beat these others.
(6) Tom Kitten $3.80: Tom Kitten, the biggest cat there is when I’ve tried to find a collect with him. Appears to be a talented type who just can’t win when I’m on. Resuming today off a handy two trials and gets pole position today, but tends to sit off midfield, so expecting him to have to ride for luck if he gets buried in up on the fence. However, James McDonald jumps into the saddle for the first time and knows how to get the home and could potentially be a change of tactics to roll forward from barrier 1. Main danger here, but one I can’t seem to catch.
(11) Chorlton Lane $6.00: 5YO who gets back to 1400m where he won first and second up nicely. He has been a little bit flat since, but far from disgraced last start. Must be included in exotics and is hard fit for this run. Prefer him on the dry ground, so look for any upgrade.
(4) Hinged E/W
$5.50/$2.10 (1 Unit)
