Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, March 1st 2025
Race 6: Proven Thoroughbreds Guy Walter Stakes – 1400m – 3:25pm (AEDT)
(1) Amelias Jewel $2.50: Resuming 5YO Mare who was winless last Spring when having her entire campaign away from WA. Albeit she didn’t win, she was terrific in most outings and was far from disgraced at top level. She returns with two trials under her belt and has an outstanding first up record. She also has a great group 2 record to match. James McDonald gets into the saddle for the first time which boosts confidence. Looks hard to beat.
(2) Olentia $5.00: 5YO mare who wasn’t all that far away first up. Fitter again for this and must be respected. Tough here again, but capable.
(7) Dark Glitter $21/$4.00: Roughie of the field who has the fitness edge over the others and she was rather impressive last start at this level where she railed up (Worst going) and only narrowly got beaten by Firestorm. Draws a nice alley and maps well. Blow out hope.
Also Backing: (7) Dark Glitter E/W $21/$4.00 (0.5U/1U)
(1) Amelias Jewel (WIN)
$2.50 (3.5 Units)
Race 9: Liverpool City Cup - 1300m - 5:15pm (AEDT)
(1) Gringotts $5.50: Resuming gelding who boasts a terrific record and goes well fresh. He will have to carry the top weight here, but he is good enough to win this. Market is against him early though which is the only concern. Goes well.
(2) Golden Mile $12/$3.10: 5YO gelding who is off a long break (Retired), but he was going well prior to retiring. He has trialled twice with his most recent being impressive. Draws well and best is good enough. Value.
(6) Encap $8.00/$2.30: 4YO gelding who is rather honest and must be considered. Draws well with Nash Rawiller into the saddle for the first time boosting confidence. Will be around the mark.
(2) Golden Mile E/W
$12/$3.10 (1 Unit)
Race 10: Toyota Forklifts BM88 - 2000m – 5:55pm (AEDT)
(1) Strathtay $101/$16.00: 5YO Gelding who was safely held first up, but gets out to 2000m now where he is unbeaten from both attempts. He rates well with Osmond claiming 3kg on top. Draws a gate and looks well over the odds here. If there is any rain about id be keen to have a dabble. Worth a small play at the odds regardless. Blow out hope.
(13) Fathers Day $9.00/$2.60: 7YO gelding from the Bjorn Baker stable who was good first up finishing second over the mile. Looks suited out to 2000m and maps as though he will be able to dictate from the front. Expect him to get a nice time out in front and with the light weight id expect him to be hard to run down. Value
(14) Kings Valley $3.40: 4YO gelding who has been terrific of late and rarely runs a bad race. Draws well and must be respected. Deserving favourite.
(13) Fathers Day E/W
$9.00/$2.60 (1U/2U)
