Our weekly MLB betting tips continue this Thursday with another three best bets for the massive 16 game slate. We have hit 4/5 tips so far this season and will be hunting another three winners below.
MLB Betting Tips Thursday 6th August
New York Mets at Washington Nationals
Nationals Park, 8.05am (AEST)
The Nationals have bounced back from a slow start to the season and currently have a 4-4 record through eight games. They’ll have their ace Max Scherzer back on the mound on Thursday and the righty is still hunting his first win of the season after putting in two pretty solid outings for an 0-1 record.
He’ll be up against Met Rick Porcello on Thursday, who is also winless through the 2020 season so far, allowing 11 runs through his first six innings for New York. The Mets have a 4-8 record to start the season and while they have one of the best team batting averages in the league at .257, they have been unable to convert it into runs or wins so far.
The Nats stat as $1.40 favourites here and it’s hard not to like them with Scherzer on the mound. The ace has made 20 career starts against New York for a ridiculous 10-5 record and 2.63 ERA including a no-hitter in 2015. Back the Nats to win this one comfortably against a struggling Percello.
Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago White Sox
Guaranteed Rate Field, 10.10am (AEST)
The White Sox have been one of the surprising teams of the season so far, maintaining a 7-4 record through their opening 11 games and they’ll have their ace Dallas Keuchel on the mound on Thursday. Keuchel has won both of his two starts so far this season, allowing just two runs through over 5 innings in his last start.
The Brewers have had a 3-5 start to the season and will have Adrian Houser on the mound Thursday. Houser has made just one start in 2020 so far, where he pitched five innings for one his against the Pirates on the 27th.
Tough to look past the White Sox with Keuchel on the mound on Thursday. The lefty might have failed to pitch through six innings in his two starts this season but he is no doubt one of the strongest starters in the league and the White Sox line-up has been giving him great support, maintaining a .286 batting average, the best in the league. Back them to win here.
Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Petco Park, 11.10am (AEST)
The Dodgers have picked up right where they left off last season, maintaining a 8-4 record through the first 12 games and looking like the best team in the league. Star recruit Mookie Betts has been dominating in his first few games in a Dodger uniform and LA have already plundered 58 runs through just 11 games, the third most in the majors.
Ross Stippling will be on the mound on Thursday and after not even being in the rotation through the spring training games, he has been fantastic through his first two starts, going past the sixth inning in both and recording a 2-0 start. He has a 2.92 ERA and will be up against Garrett Richards of the Padres on Thursday.
Dodgers should cruise here, their pitching staff is unbelievable considering Strippling was not even considered a starter before the season and they have been getting fantastic run support. After a loss in game one of their series against the Padres, the Dodgers bounced back yesterday with a comfortable win, should get another here.
