Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, July 5th
Pakenham Synthetic Race 1 - (Market)
(9) Miss Tenthousand is having her fourth run this prep, those that have backed her at her previous three (me included) may have given up on her, beaten at SP’s of $3.30, $2.30 and $4.20. I am sticking with her on a surface she has shown she can handle well. Two starts back she was mid-field but forced to chase hard off a solid tempo, was held-up for 100 yards before hitting the line well into second. Again runner-up last start, she appeared to have every chance just behind the speed, she was still strong enough through the line to see some improvement left in her. She stays at the mile, she probably goes to the paddock either way after this start, hopefully when she returns, she won’t be eligible for a maiden!
(9) Miss Tenthousand
$2.30
Grafton Race 1 - (Market)
I like to target these Class 1 and Maiden staying races as they rarely offer up a maiden that has enough upside to take on the already winners in the race. (1) Patriot Missile has been runner-up at his last couple, two starts back at Grafton in this class he was out the back early before rattling off the best last 800m of the race to get within a length and a half at the finish. He had three weeks between runs before going to Murwillumbah and coming back in trip to the 2000m. He settled closer and stuck on well but did appear to have every chance. That was at BM58 grade and this looks a lot easier, three doesn’t look a lot of speed on paper, hopefully Benny Looker takes the initiative early and goes forward.
(1) Patriot Missile
$2.40
Mudgee Race 2 - (Market)
(12) Seawise debuted at Dubbo at big odds three weeks ago, she got a long way back and after she balanced up early in the straight, ran on well taking ground off those up on the speed late. She draws wide but will likely get back anyway, gets out to the 1200m which looks to suit and Ashley Morgan sticks with the ride. There was enough there on debut and although she was a big price, she can go a couple better. Play each-way if that’s your go.
