Sunday in Australian horse racing boasts some interesting meets including the ones at Ballarat and Port McQuarie. Luke Krahe has you covered with some of his best bets of the day across the two tracks below.
Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, June 14th
Ballarat Race 3 - (Market)
(8) Themagicneverends is a maiden after seven starts, he has been improving at each of his four runs this campaign and gets out to the 2000m for the first time. Three of those four runs have been on heavy tracks, including the last two. This looks no harder than two back when just missing the placings at this track/trip, then went to Cranbourne and was a little one paced but stuck on well to run second. The third horse across the line has come out and won her maiden since, she doesn’t have a lot of brilliance but will keep grinding home in what looks a very weak maiden.
Ballarat Race 4 - (Market)
(1) Altimeter was given plenty of time having 5 official trials dating back 12 months prior to making his debut at Seymour three weeks ago. He was well supported into a $2.90 SP, settled well back in the field and after coming wide on the turn, ran on hard into second. He never really looked the winner but the margin to third was almost three lengths. He has the wide draw but gets to the big track here at Ballarat, if he can get cover in the second-half he should be finishing to hard.
Port Macquarie Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Amore Moderno is an interesting runner that comes to the new stable. The son of Al Maher was formerly trained by Greg Hickman but now calls Kempsey home at the stables of Daniel Simonetta. He had showed some ability at the trials but was only fair at four runs for the old yard. It’s fair to say that this is a much easier assignment, there have been at least two winners come through each of those four races he was in at the provincials in and in town. This is a weak race, the blinkers go on and any support would see the confidence skyrocket. I really can’t find anything to beat him!
Port Macquarie Race 4 - (Market)
(10) Gold Rhapsody won two in a row to start this campaign, the first was here at the track on a heavy surface when leading all the way. She was then up on the speed and bolted in second-up on a soft track , she clearly loves the sting out of the ground and the short trip. She was wide without cover and stuck on well at Coffs Harbour then didn’t run out the 1100m last time. From the inside gate I am hoping that she will get the soft run behind the speed again and handles the wet track as we know she can. There is plenty of speed in the race, I think she can lead but will need it soft in front to run out a strong 1100m on the rain-affected track. Happy at the price to find out on an each-way basis.
