Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Monday, June 8th
Best Bet: Race 6 - (10) Spaceboy
Best Value: Race 8 - (4) Boomtown Rat
(1) Deep Space is a son of Deep Field on debut here. He's trialled well on two occasions at Gosford and Wyong, the latest of which was on heavy ground which he handled fine. James McDonald goes straight on today for trainer Kris Lees and he doesn't look as if he has a whole lot to beat here. (8) Ultimate Thinker was backed as if unbeatable first up at Gosford, but was run down late. The rider dropped the whip in the straight which certainly didn't help. She should go forward and give a sight. (3) Stormy Rock was another horse very heavily supported on debut but failed. He'd trialled well at Rosehill leading into that so I'd respect the weight of money for him at Newcastle, which indicates he's probably got some ability. (5) Tickler next best.
(12) Yulong Code had no luck whatsoever on debut at Kensington behind Tommy Gold, held up badly until the 200m mark before finally getting some clear running. He hit the line well enough late to suggest he can measure up here. (3) Gunnamatta has run 2nd in both trials leading into his debut. He's from the Richard and Michael Freedman stable and they've got a solid enough record with runners here at Warwick Farm. He can be included at $10. (2) Edmond ran well on debut to be beaten narrowly. He will land on speed and be there for a long way. (11) Urban Warrior next best.
Value: (3) Gunnamatta $10
I was keen on (6) Miravalle a week or two ago but she was scratched. She makes her debut today coming off a terrific trial at Randwick, where she cruised to the line 3L in front. That was on a Soft 7 so she should handle the wet ground today. JMac takes the ride and she looks quite clearly the one to beat. (4) Dominant Lady could be a bit of value at $8.50. She was brave first up at Kembla when caught five-wide the trip. The stable have a great strike rate here at Warwick Farm and with an easier run, she should be competitive. (14) Sprout Wings is from another stable that goes well here at Warwick Farm and Nash Rawiller is booked to ride. She's trialled OK and could be worth including. (13) Silouette and (10) Party Lady next best.
Value: (4) Dominant Lady $8.50
(10) Fulmina and (13) Zing both won at Newcastle over 1500m on the 26th May. Fulmina rant he faster overall time and her win was in a Class 1, but Zing was the more impressive visually and did record a faster final 200m. I think at the prices she is probably the one to follow here given Fulmina is $3.70 and Zing is $5.50. There's not much between them. Pretty happy to take on (4) Broadside Armour and (2) Foxborough, so I'll be taking the $5.50 for Zing and saving on Fulmina.
(8) Stockman is no doubt the horse to beat but I'm going to stick with (6) Lord Gododdin again today. I was on him last start and I'll stay with him stepping up to 2400m. Bowman sticks with him and he might be able to find form now fourth up from a spell. Stockman has won three of his last four starts and comes off a 2000m win on heavy ground at Randwick. He's still only lightly-raced so has more upside than many of these. I just think at the prices I'd rather be on Lord Gododdin.
I don't believe it but I'm actually tipping (10) Spaceboy today. I am always against horses like him that tend to turn it up but he got a win on the board first up and then led everywhere bar the post last start on the Kenso, where he was run down by Wandabaa. Wandabaa then came out and won again on Saturday, so the form has stacked up. James McDonald goes on board today and he should be very hard to beat. The value looks to be (11) Star Of Harada for Wendy Roche and Adam Hyeronimus. He is undefeated on heavy ground from three attempts, so he will get conditions to suit today.
Value: (11) Star Of Harada $14
(7) Bollywood should have won at Scone last start, where he was caught three-wide the trip and only went down in the final 50m. He was well-backed and with a better run in transit I have no doubt he would have won. The form out of that race isn't bad at all. We saw Darleb run well in town following that race and the winner Mayaaseh has strong form. James Cummings has a good record here at Warwick Farm so the $7.50 looks a decent bet. (6) Threeood is racing well this prep and there's no reason she can't be very competitive once again here. She's a deserved favourite. (9) Vitesse next best.
Keen on the two Bjorn Baker-trained horses to close out the day. Baker is operating at a strike rate of 37% at Warwick Farm this season and he has just two horses running today, both of which line up here. (14) Frosty Rocks is the more favoured of the two. She won well first up here but then ran 2nd last at Kensington last start. She returns to Warwick Farm today and Nash Rawiller is booked for the ride. He's got a great record riding for Bjorn Baker and he'll go forward on her from the wide gate. The little query is the wet track but I'll be backing her anyway. (4) Boomtown Rat is the other Baker horse and he's a $10 chance, which looks a bit of value. He's first up from a spell and he's got a decent record overall when he's fresh. He ran 2nd in his only start on heavy ground and he has a good record at the track and also the distance. Expecting him to run well at the double figures.
Value: (4) Boomtown Rat $10
