Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, April 9th
Wyong Race 2 - (Market)
(6) Zanzidance was heavily backed at her debut here at Wyong 12 days ago coming off a good Rosehill trial win on a heavy track. She had a good run behind the speed, got clear at the furlong pole and hit the line well in what will be a good form reference going forward in my opinion. She had her chance but did beat what looks to be some pretty handy babies in the process. She gets the good claim and carries less than last start when actually a kg overweight, maps beautifully and this doesn’t look a strong maiden. I love backing these 2YO’s that have talent when taking on older horses.
Pakenham Race 1 - (Market)
(8) Redwood Rising has been to the races twice, he came through a very good form race on debut where 4 horses have won since. He finished mid-field that run when back nearer the inside, it was advantageous to be wider that night. He was then here again three weeks ago, settled behind the speed and after hitting a flat spot, ran on well late. The runner-up out of that race has since come out and won, the formline looks good out of it. He should have the gun run again and this looks no harder. (5) Does It looks the main danger but happy to take him on. He ran on well over 7 furlongs on debut but will be giving our horse a start.
Pakenham Race 3 - (Market)
(6) Our Guardian Angel had only been fair through her first prep, she was runner-up at her only start last campaign here at the track. She had 15 weeks off before resuming at Sale, she got well back over the 1100m and worked to the line strong into third beaten just under a length. She goes from 1100m-1400m and draws well, there isn’t a lot of speed on paper and she should be close to the speed. The main danger in the betting early appears to be (9) Stratessa, she gets the blinkers fir the first time and was good off a tough run last start. A little concern that she is 5-weeks between runs but if she gets a soft lead, maybe a saving bet in the run on her?
(6) Our Guardian Angel
$3.40
Gold Coast Race 3 - (Market)
(1) Vincit debuted at Kilcoy in late February off a good trail, he sat up outside the speed but was all over the shop and looked to have a lot to learn. He then went to Toowoomba three weeks ago, again showed good tactical speed, he joined in early in the straight before taking over inside the last 100. He does have to step up from 1100m – 1300m, gets a good claim and should be able to lead from the good draw. There are a few unknowns with e debutants and no prices available at the time of writing, he should be good each-way value and a bet to nothing, hard to see him missing a place.
