Horse Racing Tips: Friday, March 13th
Kembla Grange Race 6 - (Market)
The feature of the day and a lot will depend if the early favourite (4) Subpoenaed comes here or goes to town on Saturday (where she will basically running for third prizemoney at best, third on Sat is $17k whilst first in this is $110K). Either way, (5) Nudge is a runner that interests me from the Waller yard on an each-way basis. She won her maiden at this track when second-up last campaign as she is today and was beaten by the barest possible the next start also at this track, notably on a heavy surface. She was a winner on Oaks Day at Flemington before going to the paddock. She was off the scene for almost four months before resuming at Rosehill three weeks ago, she got back and was held-up when the runs came. Bowman was riding that day, he switched her back towards the inside and hit the line well to be only beaten 2 lengths, the favourite was the run of the race that day but his girl wasn’t that far behind. She looks a great bet with that run under her belt at double figure odds.
Kyneton Race 1 - (Market)
(14) Prolix is a 7-start maiden that has only placed once so you wouldn’t want to be taking short odds. Her only placing was at his latest run, she was well fancied at Benalla and settled mid-field in the run from the inside draw. She was held-up for most of the straight before getting clear at the furlong pole, she ran on well enough along the inside late. This certainly looks no harder and out in trip with Yendall taking the ride, I expect she will be on the speed for a long way.
Taree Race 2 - (Market)
(4) Urbino is resuming and obviously looks the testing material, happy to take on the Kris Lees gelding as he just can’t find the post. He has been runner-up in all four runs since arriving in Australia, first-up at a mile after 22 weeks off he looks a great lay at the short price. (12) Hanna From Havana resumed at Grafton over 7 furlongs, she got well back, fanned very wide and hit the line well to just miss the placings. She then went to Armidale in an easier maiden and was a solid even-money favourite, again got well back and hit the line hard. She gets out to the mile and should get a cheap run and may just need luck getting away from the rail when the runs come.
(12) Hanna From Havana
$7.00
Taree Race 5 - (Market)
(1) Fender was a winner on debut at Muswellbrook in the same conditions that we have today, a heavy track. He had trialed well prior to that, led all the way from the inside draw and after giving a kick at the top of the straight, never looked like getting run down. He does come back in trip to the 1000m and step out of maiden grade, but being able to handle the conditions and knowing he will be up on the speed, happy to say he can lead all the way again.
