Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, December 12th
Wyong Race 4 - Magic Millions 3&4YO (Market)
The 3&4YO division of the Magic Million on Wyong’s second biggest day looks a cracking race and deserves the $100K prizemoney attached. (8) Exhilirates won the 2YO Gold Coast version of the race earlier in the year after she was runner-up in the feature here 12 months ago. She resumed well at Caulfield and the Valley for back-to-back black type wins before being beaten as favourite but not disgraced in two more Melbourne Spring runs against her own age group. She has no weight on her back here taking on the boys and the older horses at the set weights, draws wide but that shouldn’t be an issue. Although this is only a short run home here at Wyong after a long run into the first bend, if the speed is on it really does give the swoopers a chance. There are a few natural on-pacers in the race and with the big prizemoney there may be some keen to find the front, she will be sitting back last and only needs the right horse to follow three-wide to charge over the top and add to her already $1.6 million in prizemoney.
Wyong Race 6 - Magic Millions 2YO (Market)
The feature of the day is the $200K Magic Millions for 2YO’s, a talented group of babies using this as a chance to get into the big one on the Gold Coast next month, or as a lead-up if already going there. (6) Every Rose debuted in the Gimcrack about 2 months ago at Randwick, she was too speedy, led all the way and never looked like getting run down. An interesting note that Josh Parr rode her on debut and today goes onto another runner from the Hawkes stable, Rachel King takes the ride. It doesn’t worry me at all, she rides this track well and should be able to land on the bunny and stay undefeated. There are some talented juveniles to beat though, (4) Farnan from the Waterhouse/Bott yard won by as far as you can kick ya hat on debut in an easier race at Canberra, (2) Rathlin is still a maiden but went close in the MM clockwise race on Ballarat Cup Day and (3) Strike won on debut in Qld after sitting parked.
