Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, September 26th
Bendigo Race 4 (Market)
With maiden staying races I am usually trying to look for horses that have some upside, not horses that have had 20 starts or horses that have being tried over the trip because they have failed too many times over shorter journeys. (4) Fields Of Yulong has only been to the races twice, on debut at Sandown in a harder race over a mile where he was very one paced but did make some ground without ever looking likely. He then went to Seymour, again at the mile and was caught mid-field and wide without cover and stuck on well enough. For the first time he gets out past the 2000m and has really looked like a one-paced middle distance type, drawn well in the middle of the field. Walker should be able to get cover mid-field and when the runs come be the first to go and not turn it into a sit and sprint up the straight.

Bendigo Race 8 (Market)
(11) Aerozoom is a Deep Field gelding from the Anthony Freedman yard in the city. He had trialed well prior to his debut where he was only plain at Sandown then was sent straight to the paddock. He resumed in an easier maiden at Seymour three weeks ago, settled in the back half of the field before making his run. He raced tight inside the furlong but balanced up again to drive late and get up in the last few strides. It was a good win and he was well backed, he should be able to take this next step quickly. (4) Dry Creek Road looks the logical danger but happy to take him on, he was good winning a 58 grade last time after a beautiful ride, this is harder and he ios drawn out and not sure about where he is going to get to in the run.
Hawkesbury Race 3 (Market)
Anything in black figures looks a steal for (5) Edison in this set weight maiden over 1300m. He has had three runs this prep, resumed at Randwick in a $125k maiden and sat on the speed and was beaten 0.2 lengths as favourite, then was at Group Two level behind True Detective and Superium in the race where the former got the race in the steward’s room. Last start, again at Listed level, he was backed from double figures in and it certainly wasn’t his best effort of the three. He has had support in much harder races, comes back to a Thursday Hawkebury meeting, from the good draw it looks as though only bad luck will beat him. I expect him to be very heavily backed, the big teams love backing them coming back in maidens like this.
Dalby Race 5 (Market)
(3) The Big House is likely to start a very short priced favourite here, I like races with small fields where we can try and bet around the favourite with two more place dividends. (4) Bel Beau is no star but he is very consistent, he has placed at his last four runs, including three this campaign. He ventures away from his home track of Toowoomba for the first time this prep, I really liked the way he hit the line there last start from a mile back. He comes to the smaller track here but does get out in trip and should be able to settle closer. The 1400m chute here at Dalby gives you a good 800m run to the first turn and then basically a short bend before hitting the straight. For a track that is almost a circle, the 1400m is very fair for runners to come from anywhere as you are not covering much extra ground wide.
