Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Wednesday, September 18th.
It's a solid day of metropolitan horse racing this afternoon and we've provided our best bets for Cranbourne and Warwick Farm below.
Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, September 18th
Cranbourne Race 5 (Market)
(1) Double You Tee looks a good each way bet in a competitive race here. He's had three starts this prep which have resulted in two wins and a 0.1L defeat. The track conditions pose no problems for him and he stays in the same grade today as what he won in last start. The way he's been hitting the line suggests he'll relish the step up to 2080m today and it's notable that they've elected for Billy Egan to ride him at 61.5kg rather than claim off him. At $7.00 he looks a good bet.
(1) Double You Tee E/W

Cranbourne Race 6 (Market)
Competitive little race but (7) Aree Al can progress to a BM64 win after saluting on debut here at Cranbourne a month ago. He only won by a length but he was very green and would have won by considerably more if he went straight. He's been back to the trials in the meantime and hopefully turns up slightly more furnished today. Goes up in weight and draws a touch awkwardly in barrier 10, but he looks to have the natural ability to overcome all of that. Keen to stick with him. (8) Captain Hedderwick looks a logical danger after also winning his debut at Geelong, while (1) Eagle Spirit is an each way hope.
Cranbourne Race 8 (Market)
Looks a race in two here between (6) Asateer and (10) Hidden Legend. It's a tricky one to assess. I think Hidden Legend is probably the better horse, but barrier 1 isn't ideal at all for him on this track, while Asateer is likely to lead, so any bad luck for Hidden Legend and Asateer could be off and gone. The form out of Hidden Legend's debut win is hard to argue with though. He recorded the fastest final 800m, 600, 400m and 200m of the entire meeting. Three horses have come out of that race and won since. He'll need luck but if he gets it I think he'll win. The simple way to play for me would be to back Hidden Legend and save on Asateer.
Warwick Farm Race 2 (Market)
Small field here but keen to back (7) Ziedrich, who resumes from a spell having had just one start at Wyong back in May. He ran 2nd on that occasion after settling outside the leader. I think he'll go straight to the front here and prove very hard to run down on the Heavy 10 track. Nash Rawiller is currently the in-form jcokey in Sydney, if not Australia, so that's another big positive. His main market rival is (5) Hulk, who does bring a strong formline behind Just Thinkin', but he's also shown that he's not too keen on winning, having run 2nd in four of his six starts.
Warwick Farm Race 6 (Market)
I backed (6) Dutchess Of Lennox first up and she was a complete horror show to watch. She ran the best final 800m of the race despite not seeing one inch of daylight the entire home straight. She should have gone very close to winning and this looks another very winnable race for her. I think she's destined for much better races than this and provided she handles the very heavy ground, she should be winning today. (12) He's A Given grows a leg on Heavy ground and you can't get much heavier than this, so expect him to firm in the market and take some holding out.
