We hit on 3/3 MLB betting tips last weekend for a profitable day! We’ll look to back up the strong performance as we take a look at some of the key games of the day in the 15 game slate this Wednesday, the 24th of July.
MLB Betting Tips Wednesday July 24th
Philadelphia Phillies at Detroit Tigers (9.10am AEST)
The Tigers have the worst records in all of baseball and will be hosting the Phillies in Detroit this Wednesday. They have won just two of their last 10 games and currently have just a 30-65 win/loss record. They’ll have left hander Matthew Boyd on the mound on Wednesday, who has actually been one of their better pitchers for the season so far with a 6-8 record and 4.13 ERA.
The Phillies will have right hander Aaron Nola on the mound, who has been absolutely fantastic throughout the season so far, maintaining an 8-2 win/loss record and a 3.77 ERA through 21 starts. The Phillies have won five of their last 10 games and can improve their standing in the NL East with a strong performance in this two game series against the Tigers.
Philly start as slight $1.66 favourites here, which we actually think is great value. We are willing to take that price without the handicap, especially with Nola on the mound, who has been the surest of all of the Phillies starters this season.
Philadelphia to win
$1.66
San Diego Padres at New York Mets (9.10am AEST)
The Padres currently sit at the bottom of the NL West division but are currently just five games out of the wildcard race. They have a great chance to move up those standings with a three game series in New York starting on Wednesday.
The Padres will have Chris Paddack on the mound Wednesday, making his first start since his near no-hitter against the Marlins last week. Paddack pitched seven hitless innings before allowing a home run in the eighth. He has a 6-4 record on the season with a 2.70 ERA and has been arguably the Padres most reliable pitcher.
Paddack will be up against lefty Jason Vargas, who has been consistent if anything in 2019. The lefty has pitched between four and seven innings in nearly all of his 16 starts this year and has a 4.25 ERA with a 4-5 record. The Mets have actually been impressive since the all-star break and with the home field advantage here we think they are great value.
Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodgers (12.10pm AEST)
We have a great pitching matchup in the Los Angeles derby on Wednesday as the 7-3 Felix Pena will be on the mound for the Angels. The righty has a 4.92 ERA on the season and threw seven no hit innings just a few weeks ago against Seattle. The Angels have won 7 of their last 10 games to surge up the standings in the AL West and are not just 5.5 games out of a wildcard spot.
The Dodgers maintain the best record in all of baseball at 67-35 and will have Kenta Maeda on the mound on Wednesday. Maeda will be relatively fresh after his last start was cut short after two innings due to a rain delay. The Japanese right hander has a 7-6 record through 19 starts and a 3.71 ERA this season.
No odds out at the time of writing but you can imagine that the Dodgers will be slight favourites at home here with Maeda on the mound. They have an absolutely dominant record at home in 2019 at 41-12 and have won their last three games in a row, tough to look past them here.
TIP: Dodgers to win – odds coming soon
