2018-19 NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday 12th March

March 12th 2019, 7:41am, By: Jake Smit

We’ve hit on 2/3 of our tips in our past two slates and are confident we can keep the good days rolling on Tuesday. Check out our best plays from the six games on the card below, and good luck to everyone following!

NBA Betting Tips Tuesday 12th of March

Detroit Pistons @ Brooklyn Nets (10:30am AEDT)

First off on the Tuesday slate we’ve got an all Eastern Conference affair with the Detroit Pistons hitting the road to take on the Brooklyn Nets. These teams have met twice this season and are tied at one win apiece, with each team taking care of home court by a one possession margin.

The Pistons come into this one off another really easy win over the Bulls on Monday. It was the second time in a week they’ve taken care of the Chicago based ball club, who have helped Detroit extend their unbeaten streak to five games. The Pistons have 12 wins from their last 14 games and are the most successful team in the NBA during that span.

The Nets come into this match-up holding onto a winning streak of their own. They’ve won each of their past three and come into this off an intense two point road win against the Hawks in Atlanta. This recent stretch has kept the Nets in the hunt for the sixth seed, which would likely have them face the undermanned Pacers in the first round of the playoffs, rather than the Celtics or 76ers.

The Pistons have covered the +2 spread in both meetings with the Nets this season, and come into this game in the best form they’ve been in for quite some time. They’ve got the advantage down low with Andre Drummond, who has gone off in both fixtures this season, while Langston Galloway (12 straight threes without a miss) is in ridiculous form from beyond the arc. All things considered, we’re more than comfortable recommending a play on the Pistons here.

Charlotte Hornets @ Houston Rockets (11am AEDT)

Second up on the Tuesday slate we’re looking at an interesting match-up that sees the Charlotte Hornets travel to Houston to take on the Rockets. These teams met in Charlotte earlier in the season in a closely fought contest that ended in favour of the Rockets (118-113).

The Hornets come into this off a lacklustre performance in Milwaukee, where they lost to the East’s number one team by a convincing 17 points. It was yet another dull performances from James Borrego’s men who have now won just four of their last 14 games. The Hornets now sit in 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings and must turn things around sooner rather than later if they’re a chance of the eight seed.

The Rockets continue their assault on the rest of the competition with a string of impressive victories. They’ve now won eight on the spin and get to return home to the Toyota Center where they’ve been extremely hard to beat this year. The Rockets are now in third spot in the Western Conference standings and even have a sneaky chance of finishing first if results go their way.

We see this as just too tough a task for the travelling Hornets here. They’re out of form and are outclassed in this contest, meaning we expect to end in very convincing Rockets win.

Houston Rockets -9

Boston Celtics @ Los Angeles Clippers (1:30pm AEDT)

Our third and final play for Tuesday comes from the famous Staples Centre, where the Los Angeles Clippers will host the Boston Celtics. These teams met earlier this year in Boston with the Clippers coming out on top by 11 points, although the make-up of their team has changed dramatically since then, thanks to a few deadline day trades.

The Celtics finally look to be hitting their straps with three good wins on the spin, all of which came on the road. It’s been a much need winning streak for Brad Stevens’ men, who are still well and truly in the hunt for third spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are on a nice winning streak of their one, winning each of their last four contests. Their streak has probably come as more of a surprise than the Celtics’, although they’ve only beaten one playoff team in that stretch. As it stands, the Clippers are holding onto the eight and final playoff spot in the West, and can secure a playoff berth with a few more wins.

Both of these teams come into this on decent winning streaks, but we’re more impressed with the Celtics’. That huge win on the road against the Warriors last week seems to have kicked them into gear, and we expect them to take care of a Clippers unit that they have a big talent advantage over.
