We are in red hot form in our Champions League Round of 16 betting tips so far, having hit on 5/6 tips over the first two matchdays. The Round of 16 continues this week as the first group of teams face off in their 2nd leg fixtures.
We take a look at some of the key games on Wednesday and Thursday morning and give our betting tips below.
Champions League Round of 16 Betting Tips
Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham (Wednesday 7am AEDT)
The Spurs find themselves in an enviable position as they travel to Borussia Dortmund for the second leg of this fixture. Having won the first leg at home 3-0, the Spurs can all but book their ticket into the quarter finals by scoring just one goal in Germany on Wednesday morning. Dortmund will need to win the game 3-0 to force overtime/penalties or claim victory by four goals to advance straight into the quarter finals, a tough ask against any team.
Tottenham havent been setting the world on fire in the Premier League, dropping points in five of their last 10 games and getting out of jail with a controversial draw against Arsenal on the weekend. Harry Kane is back in the line-up after missing the majority of the season so far with injury but the Spurs still look out of touch.
The Spurs have had the wood over Dortmund in their recent Champions League matchups. They have won their last three in a row against the German giants and no team has ever been knocked out of the Champions League after winning the first leg 3-0 at home. The Spurs will lay this one very defensively and shouldnt be too concerned if they concede one or even two goals. We like Dortmund to win this game but the Spurs to advance.

Real Madric vs Ajax (Wednesday 7am AEDT)
Real Madrid might have expected more, but they'll be happy to take a lead home for the second leg against Dutch side Ajax. They won the first leg 2-1 in Amsterdam and will just need a draw or a win back in Madrid to advance to their ninth straight Champions League quarter final. They haven't been the dominant force in La Liga that we have come to expect over the Ronaldo years, however, they still sit third on the table with a respectable 15-3-8 record.
Ajax have to win this game to advance, and a 1-0 win wont be enough, which means they'll likely be pretty agressive from the outset. they have been the highest scoring team in the Eredivisie this season, plundering 82 goals through just 23 games.
Contrary to what the situation suggests, we are actually going to pick this one to go under 2.5 goals. Real Madrid of yesteryear would have came out firing on all-cylinders at home, however, we think they'll be pretty content to play this one a little slower and try to claim a low scoring win or draw to ensure their place in the quarters.

Paris Saint Germain vs Manchester United (Thursday 7am AEDT)
Premier League juggernauts Manchester United are staring down the barrel of a Round of 16 exit in the Champions League after losing the first leg of their matchup against PSG 2-0 at home. They'll now need to win 2-0 to force extra time/penalties or win by three goals to advance straight into the quarter-finals, a tough ask away from home.
Manchester United have won their last two games in a row in the Premier League and the loss to PSG in the first leg was their first since an away loss to Liverpool back just before Christmas.
Manchester United will have to make history here if they wish to advance to their first Champions League quarter final since the 2013-14 season. No team in Champions League history has ever progressed to the next round after losing the first leg of a fixture at home by two or more goals (34 previous cases). We think there are multiple scenarios in which this game ends in a draw.
- PSG plays out a low scoring defensive affair.
- Manchester United get an early goal and allow one late while going ultra agressive for a fixture tying second.
- PSG take a 1-0 advantage and allow a dead rubber goal consolation goal late in the game.
