Round 10 of the BBL08 season is in the books and we hit on two out of four betting tips for the round. We now turn our attention to Round 11, which gets underway this Thursday with the Melbourne Stars taking on the Brisbane Heat and doesn’t conclude until Tuesday, the 29th of January.
BBL08 Round 11 Betting Tips
Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder (Thursday 24th Jan 9.40pm AEDT)
After a no contest up at The Gabba that the Thunder would have felt unlucky not to get a result out of, they hosted the Renegades in their last game and were defeated by five wickets. Callum Ferguson and Jason Sangha were great, both compiling 50s but ultimately it wasn’t enough for the Thunder. The Thunder now sit fifth on the BBL08 table with a 4-5 record through 10 games and can jump into the top four with a win here.
The Scorchers have had a season to forget and their woes continued in their last game as they went down to the Scorchers in a final over thriller. Needing 16 to win off the last over, Hurricanes all-rounder James Faulkner needed just three balls to get the job done and send the Scorchers to just 3-6 on the season.
Tough game to call here, neither side has looked particularly damaging recently. The Thunder have needed to get a lot from veteran Shane Watson to win games since the departure of Jos Buttler and Joe Root but he was dismissed for just one in their last clash. The Scorchers will still be without Jhye Richardson for this match who has been called up to the Test side but should be near full strength apart from that. We think the Scorchers win this one at home.

Melbourne Stars vs Brisbane Heat (Sunday 27th Jan 7.15pm AEDT)
After a two-day break in the BBL, the Stars and Heat will get the season back in action on Sunday when they face off at the MCG. The Stars will be on the back of a great win over the Strikers on Wednesday afternoon in Moe. Batting first, the Stars put on 167 on the back of a brilliant Ben Dunk 72* to claim the win. They now move to fourth on the BBL table with a 5-5 record.
Chasing 177 set by the Sydney Sixers in their last game, the Brisbane Heat were extremely disappointing. They were bowled out for just 98 and with a 3-5 record now drop to seventh on the BBL table. Their batting line0up went through a small purple patch in the middle of the season but seem to have dropped off over their last few games.
The Stars look in hot form with their gun core back in Handscomb, Zampa, Maxwell and Stoinis. They dismantled the Strikers on Wednesday on a good batting wicket and will welcome the return to the MCG on Sunday, where Stoinis in particular has been unstoppable.

Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades (Monday 28th Jan 9.15pm AEDT)
After a disappointing loss to the Sydney Thunder on Thursday night, the Scorchers can now all but kiss their hopes of making the BBL08 finals goodbye. It will be the first time in franshise history that the Scorchers have missed the Big Bash Finals, and they currently sit last on the table with a 3-7 record through 10 games. Both Shaun and Mitch Marsh returned to the line-up against the Thunder on Thursday and while Shaun batted brilliantly for 79 off just 55 balls, it wasn't enough as Callum Ferguson blasted a magnificent hundred to get the Thunder over the line.
The Melbourne Renegades have just three games left in the BBL08 season and will be in a tight battle for the last few spots in the finals. They currently hold onto fourth place by just half a game over the Sydney Thunder but can go a long way to securing a finals berth with a win on Monday night. Skipper Aaron Finch was great in the REnegades last game as they captured a win over the Sydney Thunder while English quick Harry Gurney has been fanastic in his four games since joining the Gades.
It's almost a must win for the Renegades here, which is not the prospect you want to face when heading to Perth Stadium to take on the Scorchers, regardless of their current form. The inclusion of Mitch and Shaun Marsh into the Scorchers team has turned an ordinary batting line-up into a pretty good one. Combine that with a lethal pace attack that even without Jhye Richardson is probably still the best in the competition and we think the Scorchers should get it done at home. The Renegades have also proven to be terrible in big games down the stretch in recent years.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Brisbane Heat (Tuesday 29th Jan 4pm AEDT)
The Hobart Hurricanes are in the enviable position of being able to cruise throught the remaining four games on their BBL08 scheule knowing that it would take a minor miracle to knock them off top spot. The Canes currently sit two games clear of the three teams locked on 12 points in the Sixers, Stars and Renegades and will likely need to win just one of their remaining four games to finish on top.
The Brisbane Heat have lost their last two games in a row to the Sixers and Stars resptively and now find themselves in seventh place on the BBL08 table, leading the Scorchers by just half a game after they were lucky to escape with a no contest against the Thunder a few weeks ago. The star-studded batting line-up for the Heat has looked disinterested in their last gew games, scoring just 98 and 129 respectively and with their chances of making finals all but gone, we can't see the attitude improving much from here.
The Canes love playing at home on a great batting wicket, and should be able to compile another monster score here regardless of the result of the toss. After playing four of their first five games at home, the Hurricanes have been on the road for their last five games in a row and will be keen to get back to Blundstone Arena here, where they remain undefeated in BBL08.
