The 2018-19 NBA season continues on Thursday with a big 10 game slate on offer. As usual, we’ve analysed each game and come up with out three best betting tips for the day. Good luck to everyone following!
NBA Betting Tips Thursday December 6th
Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks (11:40am AEDT)
TIP 1
The first game we’ve taken a liking to in the big slate is the Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks match-up. These two Eastern Conference rivals are yet to play each other season, but will face off another three times after Thursday’s encounter. Last season the four game regular season series was split at 2-2, although a lot has changed for both teams since then.
We’ve gone with a bit of a different approach today as usually we preview tips from three different games, but today two of our favourite plays come from the Wizards at Hawks game. The first of two plays here is on the Wizards line (-5 at time of publishing).
The Wizards had a terrible start to the 2018-19 season, but have found a little bit of form recently, winning four of their last six games to propel themselves to ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 10-14 record. Meanwhile, the Hawks entered the season knowing it was going to be difficult with such a young roster and have really struggled to generate any consistency in their performance. They’re currently second last in the East with a 5-19 record.
Although the Wizards have been tough to trust this season we think they have the perfect opportunity to stretch their winning streak out to three here. Each of the Hawks past five losses have been by double digits, so we’re confident it will be a similar result again.
TIP 2
The second play on this game is on young gun John Collins to eclipse his point spread (15.5). Although he was impressive in his rookie year last season, Collins has seemingly taken his game to another level in 2018-19. Collins missed the first 15 games of the season through injury and was nursed back into the rotation, but has now entered the starting line-up and is playing 30+ minutes each night. This is how his game log looks in the past six games:
24/11: 30 mins, 16 pts.
26/11: 30 mins, 23 pts.
28/11: 29 mins, 16 pts.
29/11: 31 mins, 9 pts.
1/12: 33 mins, 19 pts.
4/12: 30 mins, 24 pts.
As you can see, John Collins has eclipsed 15.5 points in five of his last six games, with his season best 24 points coming in his most recent outing against the Warriors. Against a week interior team like the Wizards, we see him having another good game.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors
The other game we’ve taken an interest in on Thursday is the Philadelphia 76ers at Toronto Raptors match-up. The 76ers come into this in some really good form, having won each of their past four games. That stretch has them with a 17-8 record and knocking on the door of Milwaukee in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. On the other hand, we have the Raptors who are coming off a rare home loss to the Nuggets, which was just their fifth loss of the season to go along with 20 wins.
Although we do give the slight nod to the Raptors purely because of home court advantage, we still feel there’s genuine value in the 76ers handicap (+6). Now that Jimmy Butler has settled into and is meshing well with fellow stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, we believe they’re better prepared to put in good performances on the road, which is something they struggled with earlier in the season.
