The 2017-18 NHL season continues this Wednesday with a three game slate. We take a look at all three games scheduled and give our preview and tips below.
Vegas Golden Knights at New York Rangers (10.00am AEST)
The Knights play their second game in two nights against the Rangers in the Big Apple, this is part of their six game road trip out East. The Knights are still on a hot streak and are 8-1, with their latest victory against the Avalanches who were swept off the ice in a 7-0 demolition in Vegas. Despite this unbelievable start to their first season as a new franchise they are still second behind the Kings in the Pacific Division. Will be interesting to see how the Knights hold up on their first road trip out East with tough games coming against Toronto and Ottawa.
The New York Rangers are struggling to put together wins at the moment and have a dismal 3-7-2 record. The Rangers real problem so far is that they haven't put together three solid periods yet and the defence hasn't been up to scratch as they are 25th in the league for goals against, giving up 3.50 per game. Lundqvist will start in this game, he has two of their three victories and will have to come up big again to secure this victory.

Arizona Coyotes at Detroit Red Wings (10.30am AEST)
With a team that is 0-10-1 and coming into Detroit, does anyone give the Coyotes a chance? Arizona are the only team without a victory in 2017 and have tied the NHL for the worst start in the league's history. Arizona have had their fair share of injuries early on, especially losing their number one goalie Antti Raanta to injury and hasn’t played since October 12th. I can't see Arizona avoiding this losing record but we have already seen some huge upsets this season and strange things can happen.
The Red Wings haven't been outstanding but are holding up just nicely in the Eastern Conference. The biggest surprise coming out of Detroit is the ability of the defence to score goals and give assists. Defenseman Mike Green is leading the team in points, with the veteran posting 11 points so far. These two teams met early in the month with Detroit claiming the victory 4-2 in a close battle. This could be a close one though with both teams struggling to score goals and be consistent.

Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild (11.00am AEST)
The last of a three game night has the Winnipeg Jets heading into Minnesota to take on the Wild. The Jets are second behind the Blues in the Central Division with a 5-3-2 record and are hoping to get their second straight win. The Jets last victory came against the Penguins when they gave them some of their own treatment winning 7-1, scoring five goals in the first period to set up the win. Brett Wheeler has been a stand out for the Jets and is coming off a hat trick against the Pens. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck will take the ice in this one, he has been fantastic posting a 5-0-1 record.
The Wild have won their last two games but are still in the lower half of the standings as they try and catch the leaders in the Western Conference. The Wild offence has been up to scratch but the defence has lacked composure and class. They have allowed three goals per game. This should be a tight battle with Devan Dubnyk taking the ice trying to claim his fourth win in front of the home crowd.
