2017 Formula 1: Hungarian Grand Prix Betting Tips

July 28th 2017, 1:01am, By: andyrosos

After backing him to win the last three races on the calendar, Lewis Hamilton finally saluted for us in his home town Grand Prix two weeks ago. We will be looking for more winners here the 2017 Formula 1 tour heads to Mogyoród this weekend for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

With Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel finishing 7th in the British GP, new life has been breathed into the championship race as the German now leads Hamilton by just one point in the standings. Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas is another 22 points adrift while Aussie Daniel Ricciardo is just in contact with the leaders in 4th place.

It’ll be a massive Hungarian GP for the two vying for the 2017 driver’s championship. Along with Frenchman Esteban Ocon, the three are the only drivers not to have retired from at least one race so far this season. A retirement from either one here would be horrific for their title chances so we could likely see them drive a little more cautiously in Hungary.

In saying that, however, it’s hard to look past the British champion once again. Hamilton has won the Hungarian GP more than any other driver in history with five titles and it is his second most winningest Grand Prix behind only the Canadian. Safe to say he loves the track too, only the great Michael Schumacher has gone around the Hungaroring quicker in it’s 25-year history.

TIP: Lewis Hamilton to win - $1.83 at Sportsbet

We’ve been backing the king Lewis Hamilton for a while now and it’s hard not to when arguably the greatest Formula 1 driver at all time is running around in his prime. However, there are a few roughies that we like here, namely the Aussie Daniel Ricciardo.

A third place finish at the Hungarian GP was the first in a massive purple patch of races for Ricciardo last year which saw him finish in the top three in six of his next eight races. He also hasn’t finished outside the top three in his last three trips to the Hungaroring, winning the race in 2014.

TIP: Daniel Ricciardo to win - $11 at Sportsbet

TIP: Daniel Ricciardo top three finish - $2.62 at William Hill

Outside of the Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull drivers this season, Mexican Sergio Perez has been the best of the rest in his Force India Mercedes, picking up three top six finishes and only falling outside of the top nine on two occasions. He is an uber consistent driver who knows how to match it with the big manufacturers and while he doesn’t have the best history at the Hungaroring, if one of the big six has an off day he’ll likely be the guy stepping into the fold.

TIP: Sergio Perez top six finish - $2.35 at William Hill
