The cream of the music crop will converge on Los Angeles this Monday morning (AEDT) to attend the 59th Annual Grammy Awards to be held from the Staples Centre starting at 9am. As always, you can have a punt on the awards, with popular markets being the Album, Song, Record and Video of the year. Below we preview all the big markets and give some value bets for music’s night of nights.
59th Annual Grammy Awards Betting Tips
We’ll start off the big one, 'Album of the Year' is the Grammy that every artist aspires to win one day. It signifies the culmination of an entire body of work, and some recent past winners have included the likes of Beyoncé, Adele, Beck and two-time winner Taylor Swift. Queen B is nominated again this year for her album ‘Lemonade’ and is favourite to take out the award. As far as pop music goes, Lemonade was a masterpiece, and she’ll be tough to beat here. The Grammy Academy has thrown spanners in the works in the past, however, with Beck beating out the heavily favoured Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran in 2015. They have strayed from the alternative route the past two years, however, watch for Strugill Simpson’s ‘A Sailor’s Guide to the Earth’ to be an upset here at $11.
TIP: Album of the Year ‘Lemonade’ – Beyoncé - $1.53 at Sportsbet
A lot of people get confused when they see the two different categories ‘Song’ and ‘Record’ of the Year. Let me clarify. The record of the year recognises the artist’s contributions to the track as well as every other person or groups, including producers, recording engineers, mixers etc. The song of the year purely recognises the songwriter.
In the end, Adele’s monster track ‘Hello’ is favoured for both here, and it’ll be extremely tough to beat. At $1.20 for song and $1.50 for record, there’s not much meat left on the bone, but if you really want to find an ounce of value, look to Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’ for record. In the past they have been inclined to give the record of the year to songs with a bit more going on in them. Since ‘Hello’ is essentially just Adele and a piano, it could pave the way for an upset, but even that is a long bow to draw. An Adele multi could be the play here if you can find a bookmaker that will let you.

The ‘Best Rock Album’ is where you can get some real value in my opinion. With the favourite being old timers Blink 182’s belter ‘California’ up against a host of lesser names. I don’t think you can go wrong with Blink at $1.82 here, in a dying genre of music, their album was the only one of the nominated albums that had significant play on popular radio. It could be a bit of a nod to greatest and longevity to give them one here as well. Surprisingly, this is their 1st Grammy nomination in a career that probably deserved a few wins.
TIP: Rock Album of the Year ‘California’ – Blink 182 - $1.83 at Sportsbet
Much like Blink 182, the ‘Best Rock Song’ of the year could be a nod to one of the music greats of all time. David Bowie is favourite to take out the award in a very open field with his track ‘Blackstar’. It’s be a fitting end to the late great who already has 3 Grammy wins and a ridiculous 19 nominations.
TIP: Best Rock Song ‘Blackstar’ – David Bowie - $2.25 at CrownBet
