Best of the Big Guns
James Tedesco (FLB, $16,700)
Avg: 75.9; Rd 8 Opponent: Raiders
The Tigers have officially ‘lost the plot’. With the stunning start to the season over and 5 straight losses, it’s difficult to imagine the West Tigers winning this game. Still, Canberra’s leaky defence is enough to suggest Tedesco can score mega attacking stats in a desperate side. He’s coming off a season-low 34pts, so watch for the bounce back this week.
Anthony Milford (FE, $18,800)
Avg: 88; Rd 8 Opponent: Souths
Here we are talking about Milford again. The current in-form player of the NRL averaging a massive 88pts! Look for Milford to continue this dominance against a bottom-half Souths Sydney outfit. Brisbane will attack their big forwards through the middle and long-range tries will be prominent.
Jake Friend (HOK, $16,800)
Avg: 73.7; Rd 8 Opponent: Dragons
Friend has somehow snuck under the fantasy radar – posting a 3 game avg of 83! In a game that should offer little attacking tries and therefore stoppages, look for Friend to post a 50+ tackle count. Attack stats from there will be a bonus. If you have money to spend in the hooker position, Friend is the top line pick this ANZAC Day.
Tom Trbojevic (FLB/CTW, $13,700)
Avg: 63.9; Rd 8 Opponent: Knights
With Newcastle conceding 79% of tries out wide on the edges, Trbojevic is the top pick in this game. Despite being competitive at home, Manly should still oust Newcastle and it’ll be done with their pace and creativity on the edges.
Value Picks
Tui Lolohea (FE/CTW, $11,000)
Avg: 45.9; Rd 8 Opponent: Storm
Lolohea impressed thoroughly in his first start at Five-Eight; before moving to fullback for the injured Tuivasa-Sheck mid-way in the first half. Tui is always testing the defensive line and gets thoroughly involved from fullback (vs Bulldogs: 15 runs, 1 try, 1 try assist). With the Warriors tremendous record against Melbourne, they have the ability to put back-to-back wins and start a resurgence. With dual position availability, he’s the best value of the weekend.
Richard Kennar (CTW, $6,600)
Avg: 60.5; Rd 8 Opponent: Warriors
Two tries in two games and it appears all is well for this NRL first timer. Whilst he won’t score consistently every week, at $6,700, he allows you to beef up the side with big guns elsewhere. And the Warriors do concede points, so Kennar will fancy his chances of making it 3 tries this season.
