Best of the Big Guns
Anthony Milford (FE, $17,200)
Avg: 78.8; Rd 7 Opponent: Knights
The bookies have this match priced at a line of -18, and if that’s the case, expect Brisbane to pile on the tries and points. Milford has been relatively quiet the past 2 weeks, despite still scoring relative well. If there was going to be a game where he returns to the elite of NRL fantasy, then this is it. Newcastle have been terrible in all facets of play and concede a lot of points from distance and around the ruck. Milford is a potential captain pick that can win you any tournament.
James Roberts (CTW, $12,500)
Avg: 52.7; Rd 7 Opponent: Knights
After a disappointing 37 last week, Roberts can bounce back with a couple tries this weekend. For the same defensive issues with the Knights (described above) Roberts is close to a must have at that price given his potential ceiling.
Simon Mannering (2RF, $16,800)
Avg: 67.5; Rd 7 Opponent: Bulldogs
Mannering is returning to the lock position after a couple weeks playing in the back-row. Averaging over 70 at no.13, Mannering can easily manage 15 runs and 45 tackles. The Bulldogs like to play through the middle, so look for Warriors defensive forwards to score very well.
Josh Dugan (FLB, $14,100)
Avg: 58; Rd 7 Opponent: Titans
We’ve been berated with 2 weeks of news and press conferences about how the Dragons can’t score points. Well you all know what that means don’t you? ... Yes, that St George will win the game and score plenty of tries! Dugan has performed very well without scoring attacking stats and should do so against a courageous and yet error-prone Titans side.
Value Picks
Blake Austin (FE, $10,600)
Avg: 42; Rd 7 Opponent: Sharks
Austin has had a massive price drop and looks to be a steal this week. Wanting to prove the NSW coach wrong, we expect all attacking sets to be run through Austin and Seizer. Look for Austin to post a big score this week.
Kerrod Holland (CTW, $8,600)
Avg: 65.5; Rd 7 Opponent: Warriors
He’s starting in the centres, sees plenty of ball and kicks goals. At $8,600, he’s a close must-have that’ll allow you to beef up your team with more big guns.
There you go ladies & gentlemen! Good luck this week!
