The 2015-16 season of the National Hockey League (NHL) continues this week and after our first NHL betting tips were very successful we return with out predictions again for the Monday, February 29th - including the live Australian televised Chicago Blackhawks v Washington Capitals.

Washington Capitals v Chicago Blackhawks
Kicking off Monday's round of Before You Bet's NHL tips is the clash of the top two teams in the league with the Washington Capitals visiting the Chicago Blackhawks. The Capitals road record is one of the best to date in the NHL, only losing 6 of their 29 games played away from home. A lot of their success this season is due to super-star Alex Ovechkin, who leads the league with 40 goals to his name.
The Blackhawks have had a rough few weeks on both home and away ice and need to book a solid win to hold their number two spot. Having a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 game, Chicago will have a tough time hitting the scoreboard against Braden Holtby, who has the most wins as a goalie in the NHL at 39 victories. The betting lines are tight, but I would be looking to get maximum value from the best team in the competition in a close, hand fought game. Back the Caps.

St Louis Blues v Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes host the Blues in what need to be a turning point the the Carolina season. Having recorded only 4 wins in their past 10 game, placing them 20th on the league ladder, the Hurricanes will need to find some home-ice advantage against the consistency St Louis brings with their brand of hockey.
When these teams last met in January, Carolina posted a 4-1 victory in what proved to be an off-night for the at-home Blues. St Louis forward Vladimir Tarasenko leads his team in scoring this season, racking up 29 goals from 62 games played, and will be looking to have a big impact at home to keep St Louis a top 10 team. In a close affair, the Blues will manage to keep Carolina quiet to chalk up a road win.
TIP: St Louis to Win @ 1.97 with Sportsbet
Edmonton Oilers v New York Islanders
The 29th seeded Edmonton look to have another tough road trip game on their hands, visiting the in-form New York Islanders. The Oilers have only managed 22 win from 63 games played this NHL season, whilst tying for second over all in the goals against category with 190. Penalty killing has been one of the Islanders biggest strengths so far this season, leading the league at 87.3%, all whilst recording over 30 shots their opponents goal.
With a 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, along with having given up 192 goals for the season, Edmonton will find it too tough against a quality side like the Islanders. New York's points leader John Tavares will look to have a big game and add to his already stellar 50 points, 23 of which have been goals. Islanders to continue on their winning ways.
TIP: New York to Win @ 1.64 with CrownBet
