Harness Racing Tips: Saturday, April 5th 2025
Menangle Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE (2300 METRES) – 6:47pm AEDT
(4) Chevron Art is not known for having good gate speed in this grade but will likely work forward from barrier three with ambitions of leading or breezing. He has won two of his past five and was a good effort running fourth last time out in 1:50.8.
(5) Sahara Sirocco returned to the winner’s list after a run of 12 outs. This is a step up in grade from last time, but his personal sectionals were sizzling. The Trevor Munday-trained pacer recorded a 53.9 last half with quarters in 27.7 and 26.3. Hopefully he can let down strongly again at good odds to be in the finish.
(9) Ravishing Sloy has won two of his past three starts before a narrow third placing at Bathurst. He has excellent gate speed and has options to either go forward or back from the draw.
(5) Sahara Sirocco E/W

Menangle Race 6: NUTRIEN SALES CLASSIC 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS HEAT (1609 METRES) – 9:01pm AEDT
(4) Seathestars is a Victorian-trained three-year-old gelding for trainer Geoff Webster. He was third in the Group 2 Gold Chalice Final (1730m) at Bathurst last start in a slick 1:53.0, beaten 12.6m. He draws to find the front and driver Will Rixon will be looking to lead them a merry dance in this heat of the Sales Classic.
(5) Red Sapphire leads the local brigade trying to repel the Victorian visitor and he also comes out of the Gold Chalice Final where he finished in eighth place for trainer-driver Brian Portelli. He was a better run than Seathestars in the event, but the speed map is against him in tonight’s clash.
(10) Sinaloa has a horror draw to contend with, but the gelding has shown plenty of ability in nine career starts, winning three of them. This is a lot harder than his last start win in an NR up to 47 grade; he looks more of a place chance at best.
(4) Seathestars WIN
$1.90 (3 Units)
Melton Race 2: LIFESTYLE COMMUNITIES WOODLEA PACE (1720 METRES) – 6:59pm AEDT
(2) Triple Rock Saint must be respected from the good draw for the Julie Douglas and Jack Laugher combination. He should settle on speed and can be there at the business end of proceedings.
(10) My Uncle Stan was a winner two starts back in 1:53.8 over track and distance in this class when making a three-wide run with cover late. On raw sectionals alone, the five-year-old gelding rates on top with my figures and it is just the second row draw that is against him. If he brings his best again and they don’t walk early, he can run over the top of them.
(13) Sir Jimmy had won three on end before finishing second in NR 80 to 89 grade. He was then eighth in a Listed Classic event and drops back in class to tackle this assignment. Emma Stewart and Mark Pitt are a formidable combination, and his class will take him a long way.
(10) My Uncle Stan WIN
$3.65 (2 Units)
Northam Race 4: PAUL HERLIHY MS PACE (2190 METRES) – 7:19pm (10:19pm AEDT)
(4) Captain Said So resumed from a spell with a fourth placing after sitting behind the leader and unable to hold off the challengers late to cling on to a minor prize. He has the barrier draw advantage over his main danger.
(6) American Monarch is a last start winner in much easier grade and steps up in class with a shocking draw. Looms as more of a place contender in this field.
(10) Arionrock is the class runner of the field and drops sharply in grade to tackle this assignment. Driver Dylan Egerton-Green will most likely need to make an early or mid-race move to find the breeze because he cannot afford to let Captain Said So get a big break on him. A perennial runner up lately, Arionrock strikes a race where he could be triumphant.
(10) Arionrock WIN
$2.50 (2 Units)
Northam Race 7: LES & WENDIE MS PACE (2190 METRES) – 8:48pm (11:48pm AEDT)
(2) Riggers River has been fair of late and in a field where most of these horses don’t win too often, he has each-way claims from the good draw.
(8) Bonnie Pauline is one of the better chances in the race from two on the back row. She has the services of Trent Wheeler and has each-way prospects.
(9) The Thirsty Vet has a lot to like heading into this contest. Firstly, he gets Shannon Suvaljko which is a big tick. He drops in class from recent racing and his sectionals are excellent compared to rivals. Looks a very strong chance and the horse to beat.
(9) The Thirsty Vet WIN
$3.80 (3 Units)
