Sandown Hillside hosts thoroughbred racing on Wednesday with gallopers running on a Good surface in predicted 33 degree sunshine. The first race starts at 3:05pm (AEDT), with the maidens kicking things off over the mile. Danny O’Brien has the favourite and I think he will get an early winner. The last of eight races concludes at 7pm, and my three best bets of the day are below!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, March 12th 2025
Race 1: Sportsbet Jockey Watch Plate - 3:05pm (AEDT)
(4) Hot Too Glow is fitter now and the extra distance looks ideal after he stuck on well for 3rd at Lakeside last start over 1400m. Blake Shinn sticks with the gelding and he would have given feedback to O’Brien on where to go next. He has placed in half of his eight starts on Dry tracks and this looks his race.
(11) Steadfast settled 2nd and remained there for the duration at Caulfield Heath last start. Damien Lane hops on fresh off a Group 1 win on Saturday and this filly will likely go forward again from barrier 6.
(1) Comancheria has drawn inside and may cut all of the corners to get an economical run. Has placed over this distance.
(4) Hot Too Glow
$2.20 (3 Units)
Race 3: Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap - 4:15pm (AEDT)
(8) Last Druid is an interesting runner because he has obvious talent despite his poor form of late. He has drawn well in 2 but may get back and may need a little luck in the race. He was out the back and wide at Wyong last start but worked home nicely despite finishing 6th. A bigger track here is the key because Wyong doesn’t really suit run-on type of horses. On Melbourne Cup Day JMac rode him up the straight but he never got into the race. I reckon he would have matured since then.
(1) Wolflands stuck on well for 2nd at Morphettville last start but is the top weight here. Loves this distance but hasn’t won in over a year.
(5) Codigo is resuming and has won when first up before. Trialed up well for this and gets a good rider in Carleen Hefel.
(8) Last Druid
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 8 Sportsbet More Places Handicap - 7pm (AEDT)
(9) Our Queen was a beaten odds-on favourite at The Valley at a night meeting a few weeks ago but this track should suit better. She is third up here and fitter and I expect her to start short odds again and go forward again. She led all of the way at Lakeside the start before that and Craig Williams is sticking with her for this race. First try over the 1500m but I think the current odds of $1.90 is fair because this race is weaker than what she raced in at The Valley.
(5) Aiming gets a long way back in her races but I reckon she can run on well here uo the big straight. Has placed over this track & distance. She is 20-1 but has a leading stable supporting her (Maher).
(11) Farewell to Eire is first up here and gets Lane in her corner. She has 2 wins to her name on Good tracks and she ran on well for 3rd at Caulfield before the break.
(9) Our Queen
$1.90 (4 Units)
