NBL24 Round 16 Preview & Betting Tips
Sydney Kings vs Perth Wildcats
Sunday 2pm AEDT, January 21st, Qudos Bank Arena
The Sydney Kings were finally able to get themselves back onto the winners list last weekend with a dominant victory against the Breakers (105-76). They got off to a scorching hot start with 63 points in the first half, led by Jaylen Adams and Denzel Valentine who were both absolutely lights out.
The challenge now for the Kings is to back up that performance with another strong showing on Sunday. The Kings haven’t been able to win back-to-back games since Round 7 and have won only four of their 12 games since that feat.
Meanwhile, the Perth Wildcats have been in impeccable form since their slow start to the season. They started their campaign with a 2-5 record from their first seven games but have gone an incredible 12-2 since, which makes them the form team of the competition as we approach the playoffs.
The Wildcats were far too strong for the Bullets in their opening game of Round 16, defeating them by 28 points (118-86). They’ve now put up 100+ points in six straight games which tells us that their offence is currently firing on all cylinders.
Match prediction: These teams have met twice so far in NBL24 with the series currently tied at one win apiece. Both teams were able to comfortably defend home court to date, with the Kings winning by 13 in their first outing, before the Wildcats bounced back with a nine-point win in Perth.
However, the Wildcats have had the wood over the Kings in recent times, winning three of their last four matchups. They’ve also been in much better form this season which is why it’s interesting to see them priced as underdogs for Sunday’s meeting. Even though the Kings have the home support on their side for this encounter, they don’t deserve to be priced as favourites in my opinion. I’m happy to side the with Wildcats in this one.
