There’s more racing at Ascot this Saturday to headline racing in WA. The rail is out 2m after being out 4m last week and our selections are for a GOOD track – watch and monitor for any pattern if possible. First race is set to jump at 3:34pm (AEDT) and the last at 8:33pm. The WA Racing carnival is almost on its way and we can expect to start seeing some good horses rolling around the track.

Ascot Racing Tips: Saturday, November 18th 2023
Race 1: Amelia Park BM721600m at 3:34pm AEDT
(7) MOUNTAIN ASH ($2.80) – looks to be one of two horses that will roll forward and from gate 2 I think he’ll lead to hold out CHEVAL DE LAGO. Two back he led over 1800m and gave a nice kick on the corner before getting knocked over right on the wire by STRIKE NOW (since run well / big gaps to fourth). He then went to this track / trip LS when he sat up on a hot speed and beat all bar DESSENEA who was heavily backed (beat home PLAYHOUSE PATRON which ties in with SENTIMENTAL HERO and co). Gets in with 53kgs today in a race with little to no pressure on paper so I think he’ll lead and give a nice kick on the corner again. Can he hold on?
(7) Mountain Ash - Win
$2.80 (2.5 Units)
Race 3: PKF Perth BM66+ 1400m at 4:51pm AEDT
(12) YONGA LASS ($1.90) – not normally one to tip an odds on prospect, but this mare looks awfully hard to beat. She was very good first up over 1400m when she took forever to warm up before surging late to win easily (beat CRUISE TO VICTORY who since ran to within a length of DEAMBER). She then went to 1690m two back and beat all bar DESENNEA (since won again last week) after SP’ing $2.10. Went back to 1400m LS in easier grade and absolutely walked in (won by 3.8L and was eased down inside the last furlong). Draws gate 6 for The Wizard and maps to sit in the first half of the field. The one to beat
(12) Yonga Lass - Win
$1.90 (4 Units)
Race 4: RJ PETERS Stakes1500m at 5:28pm AEDT
(6) MAGNIFICENT ANDY ($4.80) – best value bet of the day! ALSEPHINA might just be too good for them, but I think this bloke should be closer to her in the market and the $7.50 they put up on Wednesday was ridiculous. I’m a big fan of this horse and he’s returned in great order. First up over 1200m he was held-up / cramped for room at a key stage when RED FIFTY THREE had momentum before launching late to just miss. Went to 1400m second up and was strong through the line beating LET’S GALHAVANT (also here). He then beat LET’S GALHAVANT again in the Hannans Stakes and meets him better at the weights for having done so (LET’S GALHAVANT since won beating POMPEY). LS he went back to 1200m and was given no hope. It was a brutal tempo in front and he was near last 3WNC the entirety with 60kgs on his back (warmed up late). Gets a much better gate today and maps to sit right in behind the speed. ALSEPHINA has to give him 3kgs and I think he wants every bit of 1500m now. Overs.
(6) Magnificent Andy - Win
$4.80 (1.5 Units)
Race 7: Colonel Reeves Stakes 1100m at 7:27pm AEDT
(6) MY BELLA MAE ($4.20) – we were with her LS in the key form race (G3 Prince of Wales) where she was very well backed and it was a total forgive. Snagged back from the wide gate and was then checked on straightening resulting in her having to get over heels. She then raced tight but when she got clear she was good late. Meanwhile, SNOWDOME and RED CAN MAN etc were out of trouble / had momentum. She definitely should’ve finished closer. Gets in third up today and draws the pole, so hopefully Carberry can sit a bit closer in the run and get the gaps at the right time. Wants the 1100m now, loves Ascot and enjoys a dry track. She can hit back hard
(6) My Bella Mae
