NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, October 31st 2023

Chicago Bulls at Indiana Pacers

Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 10am AEDT

The Pacers rebuild is coming along very nicely despite being in its infancy. Tyrese Haliburton is the perfect cornerstone for the franchise and builds a deadly pick-and-roll partnership with Myles Turner. When the pair both played last season the Pacers were 26-22, and both are expected to be available on Tuesday. They’ll play at home against a Bulls outfit that seems to be settling for mediocrity. They’re neither contending nor rebuilding, which has been the case for a number of seasons now. Regardless, the Pacers are 2-0 this season and should have the advantage against the slower Bulls on their home deck. I’m happy to back them to cover the small spread.

Also in the same game I think the points line for second year man Bennedict Mathurin looks at least a basket too low. He had 18 points in 26 minutes first up before scoring 13 in just 17 minutes of play last time. His limited minutes was due to Aaron Nesmith having an uncharacteristic highly productive night off the bench. I expect normality to resume on Tuesday and for Mathurin to at least score in the high teens.

Also Backing:
B. Mathurin Over 13.5 Points ($1.86 Bet365) - $1.5 Units

Indiana Pacers -3.5

$1.92 (2 Units)

Detroit Pistons at OKC Thunder

Paycom Center, 11am AEDT

The Pistons have shown signs of improvement early in the new season, notching two wins from three games despite winning only 17 in last season’s entirety. A healthy Cade Cunningham has been a big plus, as has the development of Jalen Duren who’s an absolute beast. Also with two wins from three outings are the OKC Thunder. They began the season brightly before a horror showing against the Nuggets last time. The Pistons have looked solid so far but teams will start to have a better scout on them and they’ll certainly have some struggles away from home this season. On the other hand, I’m big on what the Thunder can produce this campaign and am happy to forgive their performance against the defending champs last time out where nothing went according to plan. Still, I’m wary of the energetic Pistons and will stick to just the one unit for this matchup.

OKC Thunder -5

$1.90 (1 Unit)

Dallas Mavericks at Memphis Grizzlies

FedExForum, 11am AEDT

The Mavericks at Grizzlies clash on Tuesday should be an entertaining watch. The pairing of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving is box office in itself and both games they’ve played this season have been thrillers. There hasn’t been a whole lot of defence played in either of the Mavericks games, with 245 points being score on each occasion – this should lead to a more stat-friendly game for the Grizzlies. One spot I like for the Grizzlies here is Desmond Bane’s overs in his total assists market. His line is currently sitting at 4.5 assists which he’s eclipsed in 2/3 games to date. Without Ja Morant setting the floor, Bane has to take on more of a facilitating role at times, which we also saw on numerous occasions last season where he averaged over 5 assists across 16 outings without Morant.

Desmond Bane Over 4.5 Assists

$1.80 (1 Unit)

Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans

Smoothie King Center, 11am AEDT

Fresh off a win in Houston, the Golden State Warriors will head to New Orleans to take on the undefeated Pelicans. The Warriors were able to grind out a win against the rebuilding Rockets on Monday, winning by 11 points thanks to a fourth quarter explosion by Steph Curry. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have put together two solid performances to begin their campaign and will be full of confidence now that all their stars are finally fit and firing. At (or close to) full strength, the Pelicans will be incredibly difficult to beat at home this season, as they were last campaign (27-14). The Warriors may be 2-0 on the road so far, but they won only 11/30 on their travels last season. And on their third game of this road trip and also on the second night of a back-to-back, I’m happy to take them on here.

New Orleans Pelicans -2.5

$1.90 (2 Units)
