NBA Betting Tips: Saturday, October 28th 2023
Detroit Pistons at Charlotte Hornets
Spectrum Center, 10am AEDT
The Pistons tried hard in their opener against the Heat but ultimately came up short by a single point. They now travel to Charlotte where they’ll face another Eastern Conference rival, although this time it’ll be against a team that also missed the playoffs last season. However, the Hornets secured a great win in their home opener on Saturday against the Hawks and will be full of confidence as a result. Having LaMelo Ball back fit and firing is key for the home side and with him leading the charge again on Saturday, I like the chances of the Hornets going 2-0 with another strong win in this one.
Charlotte Hornets -3.5

Denver Nuggets at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, 10am AEDT
The Nuggets secured an impressive win on opening day to begin their championship defence on the right foot. They now travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies who lost their first game and continue to be without Ja Morant. One thing of notice from the Nuggets first outing is their rotations only went nine deep and their starters all played over 30 minutes. KCP logged 36 minutes and was among the best for the Nuggets with 20 points. With likely increased playing time and more shots on offer, I’m keen to back him in for at least 10 points against the Grizzlies
K. Caldwell-Pope Over 9.5 Points

OKC Thunder at Cleveland Cavaliers
Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, 10:30am AEDT
Both the Thunder and the Cavaliers began their season the right way with wins in their opening games. They now face off in Cleveland at 10:30am (AEDT). The newly-acquired Max Strus for the Cavs is the player of focus here after his bright start to life for the team since coming over from Miami. Strus played the most minutes of any Cav in their opener, logging a touch under 39 which was a bit of a surprise. However, he was equal with Donovan Mitchell for most points on the team with 27, dialling in nine of his 17 looks. His line remains at 10.5 for this one and that simply looks unders.
Max Strus Over 10.5 Points

Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls
United Center, 11am AEDT
The Raptors began their season well with a strong win at home in a low-scoring affair against the Timberwolves. They now take on the Bulls who got blown out of the water by the talented Thunder first up. I was keen on Dennis Schroder to score 12+ points first up and he certainly didn’t disappoint when pouring in 22 points on 8-17 shooting in 32 minutes of play. He’ll be leading the charge again when they take on the Bulls and I’m surprised his line has only risen to 12.5 at the time of writing. Taking his overs in the total points market looks to be one of the best bets of the day.
Dennis Schroder Over 12.5 Points

Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs
Frost Bank Center, 11am AEDT
The Rockets began the season where they left off last campaign, losing by 30 points to a fellow rebuilding team in the Magic. They now take on Wemby and the Spurs on Saturday in what should be an entertaining matchup. The player I’m keen to zone in on here is second-year man Jeremy Sochan who continues to show flashes of his immense talent. Sochan has been given ball handling duties early this season and was productive first up with a line of 13/8/5 on 4-12 shooting. He logged just over 28 minutes on the night and with the ball in his hands on most possessions, I like the look of his overs in his points line which looks too low.
Jeremy Sochan Over 10.5 Points
