Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday October 18th

October 17th 2023, 10:20pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

Caulfield will host midweek racing at Melbourne this week with the track preparing for its biggest day of the year on Saturday, the Caulfield Cup.

But first we must find some winners here and I think there are four quality tips that we can access. Race 1 is at 1:30pm AEDT and gallopers will be running on a Good 4 surface. Check out our Caulfield racing tips below!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 18th 2023

Race 2: NEDS Coongy Cup Group 3 - 2:05pm (AEDT)

(12) Greglimo for Mike Moroney is the tip here after his quality 4th at Flemington last start where he came from well back at the 400m. Blake Shinn is off but Jamie Kah is on so he loses nothing there. He has had 4 jumpouts in 5 weeks so is pretty fit and with a low weight of 54kg he should get every chance from barrier 4.

(13) Foujita San won well last time and he also came from a long way back and sprinted right past them. This is harder and he will probably settle a couple of lengths behind our on topper and I'm not sure that he can pick him up.

(4) Steinem likes this track and prefers Good ground so he is right in this. She hasn't won over this distance yet but does go well for John Allen.

(1) Diamil has drawn well in 3 and comes over from Sydney after failing in his last 3 starts. He goes good by all reports and must be kept safe.

(12) Greglimo

$3.80 (2 units)

Race 4: NEDS Punters Toolbox Handicap - 3:15pm (AEDT)

(7) Insulation is the go here at even money for the Moody&Coleman team. He carries 54kg here and carried the same weight when he won at Morphetville 2 starts back. At Flemington last start it was a super 2n really after running on very well with 60.5kg on top. He drops a little in distance but I expect him to settle back and be too strong over the last 100m.

(8) Sunday Buzz can run well at odds after leading in the same race as Insulation last time.

(5) Wahine Toa hasn’t won in a while but has her preferred Dry track this time.

(4) Duke of Hastings had a good prep earlier in the year but his jumpout was poor last week when last. Wouldn't dismiss totally.

(7) Insulation

$2.00 (4 units)

Race 5: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 3:50pm (AEDT)

(7) Shock ‘Em Ova has a good closing sectional on him and did run on very well to score at this track at his latest start. The distance rise should suit him and Craig Williams stays on and he knows him well having never missed a top 3 finish on him. He is even fitter now and from midfield or worse there of he should be too good late.

(8) Daiquiri will be up there early and if he can control the pace he should be able to run top 3 in this. He led all of the way at Mornington last start but this is obviously harder.

(5) Regal Amazon has been running well at odds and will be running on again. The Stokes stable is in form and he will be good place odds.

(4) Hennessy Lad will be in the top few early but the final 100m may be an issue with others stronger.

(7) Shock ‘Em Ova

$2.40 (3 units)

Race 8: Marshall White Trophy - 5:45pm (AEDT)

(14) Watadeel is the second emergency but I’m hoping he get in here so we can have a crack. Barrier 12 should be okay as he does get back anyway and Jamie Kah is on. He wasn’t beaten too far last start when 6th at Hillside (1.45L) and his last 600m sectional was one of the best of the day. It's his second try at this distance and will be a big chance if runs.

(13) Dashing was beaten a head last start after running well at Hillside. Linda Meech stays on he will likely settle 4th or 5th in the run.

(11) Jennilala has drawn well in 2 and does go well fresh. WIll be better in a few weeks but can run a drum.

(8) Faretti may lead from barrier 5 and the Waterhouse&Bottt combination are firing at the minute. He is fitter now and has won 2 from 6 when third up.

(14) Watadeel

$5.50 (3 units)
