Happy Valley is back with another exciting Wednesday night meeting for all the committed racing fans. A few horses I'm extremely keen on throughout this card so keep an eye on them and good luck if you're jumping on.
Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday October 4th
Race 2: Island Hcp (C5) – 1200m (22:45 AEST)
(10) Valhalla will be hard to beat in this event. It’s a no brainer after he dominated last start when 2nd up beating Vamos comfortably. The extra 3kg here might bring him back to the field but it’s hard to see him not winning with even luck.
(3) Vamos will look to settle handy here again and from the inside draw with added fitness can make it closer between him and Valhalla. That said, I can’t justify him being favourite over that horse who went straight past him last start.
(5) Fighting Star finished 3rd when 1st up and is the likely leader here from a good draw. If they go slow he could win
(10) Valhalla e/w
$4.60/$2.00 (1 unit)
Race 3: Nam Fung Hcp (C3) – 1000m (23:15 AEST)
(6) Humble Star should win. Stormed home last start to run 2nd to Harmony N Blessed (who is also in this race) after drawing wide and failing to find a spot early resulting in him drifting back to near-last. Gate 5 will enable the horse to settle much closer this time and given how well he performed last time, he shouldn’t be losing.
(1) Harmony N Blessed was the victor in the first clash between most of these horses last start. He’s up in weight for that but races on speed so is rarely far away over these sprint trips.
(2) Explosive Witness likes to get back early which often means he has a task ahead of him to catch the other horses over 1000m. That said, he has done it before many times and has Hugh Bowman to try to get the job done this time.
(6) Humble Star win
$2.80 (3 units)
Race 6: Tai Shue Wan Hcp (C4) – 1200m (00:45 AEDT)
(1) Denfield deserves his short price. He jumped poorly 1st up which cost him the race. He was backed heavily into 1.5 there and should start a similar price tonight. Bet365 has him at close to even money but he’s much more likely to win this race than coin flip odds would suggest.
(7) High Percentage wasn’t the worst 1st up and did get crowded for room late in the race. That said, it’ll be a big upset if he’s to beat this favourite. Solid chance for minors.
(4) Compassion Spirit only goes in here for the jockey Hugh Bowman who is leading the jockey’s challenge at the moment. Can’t rule him out.
(1) Denfield win
$1.85 (3 units)
