Canterbury Racing Tips: Wednesday, August 16th 2023
Race 3: Ranvet BM72 1900m at 2:35pm AEST
(4) BACIO DEL MIST ($15/$3.90) – 6YO grey mare who hasn’t shown much this prep so far, but gets back to BM72 grade again at midweek level. Has been successful over this trip and twice at this track. Fourth up now and expect her to be match fit now and ready to run her race. Loves it wet and draws a nice gate. Looks a chance at big odds with a 3kg claim on board.
(1) THE MILKYBAR KID ($3.90) – 5YO who ran okay last start and looked to have found a second win late, but it was too late to salute. Should be rock hard fit now and ready to tackle this distance third up. Genuine on pacer who doesn’t mine a bit of give in the ground. Still needs to carry top weight, but worth thought.
(4) BACIO DEL MIST – E/W
$15/$3.90 (0.5u/1u)
Race 5: James Squire BM72 1100M at 3:45pm AEST
(10) HIGH PLATEAU ($2.90) – 5YO gelding out of the cummings stable who has booked J-Mac here. Began career in style with back-to-back wins with gaps to second. Second up today and handles the soft ground and looks ready to win here. Goes well.
(3) MISS JAY FOX ($13/$3.80) – 6YO mare who won in this grade and distance two back at Randwick nicely. Gets a 3kg claim here to bring her around that same weight when she won. Scratched from Saturday to run here which looks easier. She will need to overcome the wide barrier and not get caught out wide, but expect her to be finishing strong. Looks over the odds.
(10) HIGH PLATEAU - WIN
$2.90 (2 Units)
Race 6: Best Of Bordeaux @ Coolmore BM72 1250m at 4:20pm AEST
(8) TASHI ($5.50/$2.15) – 4YO Mare who has been competing well last three starts. Back to this grade and distance where she wasn’t far off winning. Draws a nice gate and should be in the finish again here with an each way price. Goes well.
(10) CORIOILIS ($4.60) – Another Cummings and J-Mac combo here. Won well last start in a BM64 where she flew past them to win comfortably. Proven on the wet, so should be around the mark again here.
(8) TASHI – E/W
$5.50/$2.15 (1 Unit)
