AFL Round 14 Preview & Betting Tips
GWS vs Fremantle
Saturday 4:35pm AEST, June 17th, GIANTS Stadium
Both precariously placed on the ladder, GWS and Fremantle will lock horns in the first game of Saturday’s AFL double-header in Round 14.
GWS enter this clash at 5-7 on the ledger, while Fremantle are one better at 6-6, which makes for an extremely important game in the context of the season for both clubs.
The Giants have found some of their better form in recent weeks with two wins and a narrow loss in their past three outings, including a 28 point win over the Kangaroos last weekend in a match they controlled from start to finish.
Meanwhile, the Dockers put together four wins on the spin to resurrect their finals hopes before falling in a disappointing loss at home against the Tigers last weekend.
Both teams have had their injury problems this season but are getting back to near full strength for this encounter. The Giants will welcome back star midfielder Josh Kelly this weekend, while high-profile recruit Jaeger O’Meara, who is yet to find his footing for his new team, will return for the visitors.
Saturday’s matchup will be played at GIANTS Stadium in NSW which boosts the Giants chances of securing another valuable win, although they suffered defeat last time they played hosts to the Dockers, which was in August of last year (69-89).
In fact, the Dockers have won each of the last three meetings with the Giants, so there are obviously some matchups around the ground that work in their favour.
It’s also important to note that the low total points from their most recent matchup is no coincidence, as the last four contests between these teams have seen less than 160 points scored, all of which fall under the total points line for this match which is currently set at 169.5 points.
And although both sides have been scoring at a semi-high rate in recent weeks, I expect goals to be at a premium when they face tomorrow considering the high-importance of a win either way.
With that said, I’m keen to play the unders in the total points market for a stake of 1.5 units at BoomBet, who are currently offering the highest total to attack.

Stephen Coniglio 25+ Disposals – Has only missed the mark once this season. He’s as reliable as they come and is a solid leg to have in a SGM.
Jye Amiss 2+ Goals – Is showing a lot of promise and comes into this match off a career-best four goals last weekend. Will get the opportunities here.
Under 169.5 Points – Happy to have the unders in my SGM as well to boost the odds substantially. I’d be surprised to see this match be a shootout like the line suggests.
