AFL Round 14 Predictions & Betting Tips
Port Adelaide vs Geelong
Thursday 7:40pm AEST, June 15th, Adelaide Oval
Last weekend’s opening match was a bit of a let down if we’re being honest, but Round 14’s Thursday night battle between Port Adelaide and Geelong should be anything but.
Adelaide Oval will host this mouth-watering clash and for that reason coupled with the record-breaking form of the home side, the Power are listed as favourites ($1.55) to take down the reigning premiers in the Cats ($2.45).
Port Adelaide’s form has been well documented in recent weeks and they were at their best once again last weekend when taking down the Bulldogs on enemy turf. They were the better team from start to finish record a wire-to-wire 22 point win (107-85).
Since starting the season 1-2 and in pressure to perform under out-of-contract coach Ken Hinkley, the Power have strung together 10 wins on the spin to sit comfortably in second spot on the ladder and only percentage behind Collingwood in first.
Meanwhile, talks of a premiership hangover continues to surround Geelong who entered the bye with six wins and six losses to their name.
However, a stirring win over the Bulldogs in Round 13 could be used as a springboard for the Cats who are still internally optimistic about what the second half of the season could bring.
Adding to optimism is the return of stars Patrick Dangerfield and Mitch Duncan who will both be injected to the side to take on the Power on Thursday night after recovering from injury.
In saying that, the Cats will need a lift from more than just those two champions if they’re to challenge the hottest team in the competition in front of a raucous crowd.
The Power have been tested multiple times in recent weeks and now have a big target on their backs, although they’ve shown no signs of slowing down and will be desperate to head into their Round 15 bye with another win under their belt.
Like most, I’m expecting the Cats to be playing at a high level and to test the Power throughout the four quarters, but it’s impossible to bet against the home side on recent form and I’ll be siding with them to win in a close one as a result.

Zak Butters 25+ Disposals – Is a genuine superstar of the game and one of the Brownlow Medal fancies. 10 straight games of 25+ touches since being injected into the midfield.
Mitch Duncan 20+ Disposals – Big game player and will almost certainly roam across half back. Expect him to be great in his return game.
Jeremy Cameron 2+ Goals – Extremely hard to match up on and the Power don’t have anyone who can go with him in my opinion. He should hit the scoreboard multiple times.
Todd Marshall 2+ Goals – Up there with the best kicks for goal in the competition. Rarely wastes a chance and is great value.
Same Game Multi odds: $4.75
