AFL Round 7 Preview & Betting Tips
Adelaide vs Collingwood
Sunday 4:40pm AEST, April 30th, Adelaide Oval
Adelaide will play at home for the third time in four weeks when they Collingwood in the final match of the round on Sunday. There have already been some thrilling matches play out across Round 7, but there’s every chance the best has been saved until last!
Adelaide started their season in lacklustre form when suffering disappointing defeats in their first two games, but they’ve hit their straps since then and enter this match as one of the form teams of the competition. The Crows have won four on the spin and are sitting comfortably in the top eight as a result.
The Crows haven’t had many injury struggles this weekend and that’s part of the reason for their early success, however, they do have some concerns on that front heading into this fixture. Superstar Rory Laird had to cut his midweek training session short after tweaking his calf and while he has been named to play on Sunday, the expectation is that he’ll be a late out, which would be a big blow to their chances of winning.
Collingwood were the masters of coming back and winning tight matches in 2022 and it looks like this year will be the exact same. They entered the last quarter of their Anzac Day clash against the Bombers down by goals, but managed to win the fourth quarter 44-3 to come away with another win. The Magpies have now won two in a row and five out of six for the season and sit inside the top four on the ladder.
The Magpies injury list is now quite an extensive one and they’ll be without a number of their key players this weekend. Darcy Cameron, Mason Cox, Jeremy Howe, Dan McStay, and Pat Lipinski will all continue to rehab their long term injuries, while champion Scott Pendlebury will also join them on the sidelines on Sunday after suffering an eye injury against the Bombers.
The bookies have the Magpies priced as slight favourites to get the chocolates and that seems about right considering the form lines of these clubs. However, it really could go either way and I’m expecting an extremely competitive game with plenty of momentum swings. With that in mind, I’m keen to back Any Other Result in the wire-to-wire market.

Jordan Dawson 25+ Disposals – Had one of his quieter games last weekend after copping some attention, however, he relishes playing at the Adelaide Oval and has cleared 25 disposals in five straight home matches.
Josh Rachele 1+ Goals – The young gun is a big game player and has hit the scoreboard in all but one game this season. I like him for at least one goal here.
Jack Ginnivan – 1+ Goals – Similarly to Rachele, Ginnivan also seems to play well in important matches. He’s kicked goals in both of his matches this season and should be able to keep that streak alive.
Lachie Sholl 15+ Disposals – Sholl has been great this season and is coming off 23 disposals last weekend. I like him to get at least 15 in this one.
