AFL GWS vs Adelaide Betting Tips
GIANTS Stadium, Sunday 19th March, 1.10pm (AEDT)
It’s been a busy off-season for the Giants, who waved goodbye to yet another two stars in Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto, both of whom departed for the Tigers. It’s been an incredible journey of player turnover for the Giants since their inception into the AFL. A team made up of talent that has exited the club over the past 10 years would be premiership favourites this season, so it’s crazy to think about how much talent they STILL have on their roster.
Midfielder Tom Green is set to take the next step into stardom this year in a more permanent role, while Josh Kelly, Lachie Whitfield, Stephen Coniglio and Toby Greene have all been rewarded with big contracts to make up the core of the squad. I’m predicting the Giants to be be a frisky team in 2023. I think they will play with a lot more freedom under new coach Adam Kingsley. They are also rock solid on the injury front heading into Round 1, something that hasn’t been the case for the Giants for a few years.
While the Crows have shown continued improvement over the last few years, you get the feeling that it will be another year of growth for the club, finishing somewhere in the bottom six. They are building a solid squad with some good young stars, but are probably relying a little too much on their veterans in the likes of Taylor Walker, Tom Doedee, Brodie Smith and Rory Laird at the moment.
They did add some talent in the off-season, with talented small forward/midfielder Izak Rankine coming over from the Suns. They were dealt a big blow in the pre-season as midfielder Matt Crouch broke his leg and will be out indefinitely.
Think the Giants kick off their season on the right note at home on Sunday afternoon. I think their game-style under Leon Cameron, while helping them reach a Grand Final in ___, was starting to get a bit stale and not at all conducive to the amount of talent they possessed last season. I’m excited to see how the Giants play under Kingsley, I think it will be a much more high paced, offensive style, more in line with how AFL is played in this era. This style should suit the likes of Toby Greene, who is one of the best one-on-one forwards in the game. Back them to cover the 6.5 point line here.

Kicking off our Same Game Multi with both Ben Keays and Tom Green to have 25+ disposals. Keays proved himself as one of the better accumulators in the competition last season while Tom Green offers a bit more value but should have a massively increased role in the midfield with no Taranto or Hopper.
Our final leg will be Toby Greene to kick 2+ goals. With no injury issues at the Giants currently, I think Greene will resume his role as a permanent forward and not be asked to play in the midfield quite as much. Kicked 4.1 in the Giants 59 point win on the road against Adelaide last season.
