Sha Tin today presents quite a few exciting races at the class 1 and 2 levels. Some horses are coming back from group-level racing and should be exciting watches going around in easier events. No Zac Purton after he demolished Sydney’s jocleys at Randwick yesterday so look to Hugh Bowman and Karis Teetan to step up here.
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday March 5th
Race 3
(1) Courier Wonder is the obvious selection for this race having performed the best last start in the G1 sprint behind Lucky Sweynesse. He’s drawn perfectly to smoke the pipe and look for room in the straight.
(2) Duke Wai will be hard to beat here as he’s going very well of late and didn’t get a lot his way in the same race as Courier Wonder last start. That’s clearly the best form race for this so sticking with these 2 runners to come out of it.
(4) Rewarding Together is continuing to step up in grade and match his opposition. That said, he’s eventually going to reach his limit and coming up against some G1 performers has me suspicious that limit might be getting close.
(1) Courier Wonder win
$2.60 (2 units)
Race 6
(2) Perfetto is short here but does look a standout on the card. He absolutely blitzed his opposition last start under Zac Purton and with him in Australia this weekend, Hugh Bowman has taken the ride. Gate 8 is a nice neutral draw and should allow the horse every chance in the run.
(7) Indigenous Realm has been steadily improving his form of late and may be ready to peak now. Drawn horribly which will be his biggest test today but if he overcomes the draw he’s a top hope.
(8) Perfect To Great was a winner 2 starts ago and is now over 20-1. It’s a massive price for this horse with Vincent Ho aboard from a good gate. Expect him to outperform his price.
(2) Perfetto win
$1.60 (3 units)
Race 8
(4) Turin Redsun has been contesting unsuitable races recently having raced at the end of last prep in group level races and then resuming over only 1400m this time in. He gets to 1800m now in class 2 which is perfect for him so I expect him to give his best performance in some time at quite a nice price.
(1) Running Glory is ultra-consistent over these trips and won last time in a quality field after sneaking runs underneath horses. Hugh Bowman is aboard again and might be looking to do a similar thing this time.
(10) Champion Dragon is a serial placegetter and could continue that trend here stepping up in grade and plummeting in the weights. He looks likely to find a few too good but could get into the minors.
(4) Turin Redsun e/w
$12/$3.6 (1 unit)
