A phenomenal race meeting awaits this afternoon at Sha Tin. We’re spoilt with a rare Saturday card packed full of great betting opportunities. It looks like a card where plenty of favourites will be tough to beat and set up well to win.
Our best bets for the Sha Tin meeting are presented below thanks to Blake Lalor.
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Saturday January 21st
Race 1
No medals for finding this horse on top but (3) Super Win Dragon can’t be ignored in this race. Small field suits here with the aid of barrier 1 coming off a hat trick of wins all in stylish fashion. I’d be shocked if anything else won given the form this horse is finally in after promising so much earlier in his career.
(1) Ka Ying Master was wide when he last attempted the AWT so had minor excuses. He’ll need to lift to win but should be in the placings.
(2) Ping Hai Galaxy isn’t the best performed on the AWT but is in good form. In this small field he can make his presence known and with good tactical speed should be in the race a long way.
(3) Super Win Dragon win
$1.85 (2 units)
Race 4
This looks quite a winnable race for (3) M M johnny. Admittedly, he probably should have broken through already having run 2nd in his last 2 starts but I’m not going to label him a non-winner just yet as Zac Purton gets his turn to try and win aboard this battler today. This field has no depth to it so with even luck M M Johnny will be tough to beat.
(12) Little Player showed glimpses of his best last time when finishing 3rd. His form prior was woeful so he’ll need to find some consistency before I have any confidence in him winning a race.
(14) Raging Blaze is a very hard horse to catch but regularly runs well. Did that last time over 1000m so should appreciate getting the extra 200m here today.
(3) M M Johnny win
$3.00 (2 units)
Race 5
(3) Shining Fortune savaged the line when winning on this surface 2 starts ago. Zac Purton has stuck with the horse since as he attempted 1200m on the turf at Happy Valley. He clearly didn’t enjoy that as much and returns to the AWT this time to hopefully get back to winning ways.
(2) Stand Up has been runner up his last 3 races behind some handy horses. He’s drawn wide here and bumps into Shining Fortune again who looked to have him covered very comfortably at their last meeting.
(12) Telecom Missile won on the turf last time and placed prior to that on this surface. He may not be good enough to beat a few in this race but at a nice price he should be able to get into the top 4.
(3) Shining Fortune e/w
$4.80/$2.00 (1 unit)
