Happy Valley tonight hosts an eight-race meeting with the typical runners engaged in some relatively interesting events. We’ve identified plenty of top chances throughout the card and have had to narrow it down to just a few best bets.

Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday January 18th
Race 1
(9) Fortune Master had no luck last time when boxed in on the rail in the home straight. He’s been working towards a win with a long string of favourable draws and gets another chance from gate 2 here with Zac Purton taking over.
(5) Daily Beauty was able to get a long overdue win last time on the AWT. He is in good form and has been for some time. Expect that to continue here and the horse to give another good account of himself.
(1) Dazzling Fellow has improved noticeably this season and looks close to winning after dropping into C5 now. Hugh Bowman is engaged from a good draw so expect a solid performance.
(9) Fortune Master Win

Race 4
(5) Hercules is a big price in this and I’m anticipating a strong tempo with plenty of horses that should be contesting the early lead. Hercules will be taking his medicine early and looking for runs straightening. If the leaders are tiring late, he’ll be the one finishing over the top.
(11) Flying On The Turf closed strongly over this trip last time to win and can run well again. Zac Purton remains aboard as the horse rises in class but is benefited by a very light weight. Shouldn’t be far away.
(4) Faribault is going for the hat trick of wins here and somehow remains in the same class. The big weight could pose some difficulty for the horse but winning form is hard to argue against so he has to be in the mix.
(5) Hercules Each-Way

Race 5
(2) Rattan Kingdom will be awfully hard to beat again here after winning consecutive races in this class. He’s drawn well again with Zac Purton aboard and should be breaking into C3 in the very near future with the form he’s in.
(1) Sugar Sugar is flying after winning 1st up and missing the start 2nd up before closing off well for 5th. Provided he nails the start this time he should be the biggest danger to the favourite.
(6) Mr Fun has been luckless with barrier draws in his short career and it doesn’t get any better for him tonight. He’s been able to overcome those draws enough to place on both occasions so expect him to run well again tonight. Might just need a lower gate to win his first race.
