Sha Tin Racing Tips: Saturday December 24th
Race 1
(7) Forerunner debuts today and looks talented. This field is lacking any depth whatsoever and the two favourites look very average on the performances they’ve produced so far. Forerunner doesn’t need to be a superstar to win this and Hugh Bowman can open his account early.
(11) Fast Buck hasn’t looked very special so far and is drawn wide here. He’s undoubtedly too short in this race but has to be one of the main chances purely based on how weak this field looks.
(14) Glory Bo Bo makes up the top 3 in this race after running 2nd to a talented horse last time at big odds. Much shorter this time and still not very trustworthy but a repeat of last time will have him in this race.
(7) Forerunner e/w
$6.50/$2.30 (1 unit e/w)
Race 4
(1) Compassion Spirit drops in class after being slightly unlucky in C3 not to finish closer. He’s proven himself as being right up the top of C4 and deserving of chances in C3 so this should be a winnable race for the horse. Considering there don’t look to be many progressive types in this race, Compassion Spirit has to be considered the horse to beat.
(4) Red Titan is drawn too wide for me to back here but with a better draw I’d be fairly confident in him as being the horse to beat. With a nice run he probably wins but I’m anticipating a poor run for this horse and a tough watch for backers.
(8) Infinite Power has been known to go forward and win races from the front in the past. He didn’t do that last time after beginning well and taking a sit around 6th. He was tight for room behind a talented horse in Gold Gold Baby so should be able to run well here.
(1) Compassion Spirit e/w
$5.50/$2.20 (1 unit e/w)
Race 5
(1) Skyeye Supreme will lead this race and be tough to beat. We’re racing on a firm track and the AWT typically exhibits the most notable leader’s bias. Skyeye Supreme was only just run down late by the horse tracking it throughout the race over 1800m last time. He should prove difficult to catch again dropping back 150m and leading with a 2.5kg claiming apprentice aboard.
(8) Sun Of Makfi is so consistent over this trip but struggles to win very often. Zac Purton should give the horse every possible chance so he’s got to be in the top 3 but he’s more likely to run a place in my eyes.
(9) The Multiplier will run well again after winning last start. He’s up in grade but in good form and the grade rises tend to be less significant of a factor on the AWT. Go well.
(1) Skyeye Supreme e/w
$10/$2.70 (0.5 units e/w)
Race 10
(10) Packing Treadmill has won 2 in a row now and will be looking for 3 here under Hugh Bowman. Zac Purton has sided with Beautyverse who looks talented but raced erratically last time. He may be able to win with the perfect performance but it’s likely he’ll show some immaturity as he did last time and open the door to Packing Treadmill who has more experience.
(9) Beautyverse has already been mentioned and can win this race if he leads and races well. He didn’t last time though which cost him the race. The same will probably happen here.
(5) Savaquin is a serial placegetter of late and that can continue here. He always turns up and gives 100% which should see him amongst the top few horses.
(10) Packing Treadmill
$4.20 (2 units)
