All eyes are on Ascot again this Saturday with the running of the Northerly Stakes the feature on the program. There are nine races on the card, and we get to see Godolphin visitor Cascadian take on the best of the locals in the big one.
Plenty of sun in Perth this week and we should expect perfect racing conditions come race day.
Billy Bestford is back once again to bring you his analysis and racing tips for the day!
Ascot Racing Tips: Saturday December 3rd
Race 3
No real price about him but (5) Truly Inspired is in career best form and looks a big chance to make it three wins on the bounce. He’s a stayer on the rise and this race looks no tougher than the one he bolted in last start. Draws nicely for Pike and expect he sees a nice trail throughout and is too strong towards the back end of the race.
(4) Mystery Island is a decent chance at double figures, but the barrier is the concern. The horse is flying, and John Allen is here from Vic to ride. He looks suited getting back up in trip after a good run at the mile.
(10) Queen Alina is an exciting horse in her own right. She’s yet to miss the quinella in six career runs and will only need to run out a strong 2100m to be in with a chance.
Not sure what to make of (7) Coolth at recent runs but his best form is good enough for this.

Race 5
Looking forward to seeing (4) Karalee Rocks stepping up to Saturday company for the first time. She has been nothing but impressive since returning to racing this prep and her last two wins have been dominant. She will be out the back form gate 10 but her turn of foot is elite. Think she can give them a start and still beat them.
(3) Real Danger is exactly that. Pikey has ridden the horse for two wins, and I think she will enjoy dropping back to 1200m after finding the 1400 a touch too far. She’s proven in this sort of grade.
(7) Penny On The Queen is another who will like getting back to 1200m. She has been going around in the top line 3-year-old races recently so might be able to measure up to something like this now.
(2) Via Monte started favourite first up over a shorter trip and has a good record here at Ascot. Looks to get every chance up on the speed.

Race 8
James McDonald makes the long flight to Perth to partner up with (1) Cascadian here in the feature event. He is clearly the horse to beat on class alone and he has been racing in very good form. He was closing well in the Champions Mile last time we saw him and has had a nice freshen up trial since arriving in WA. Unbeaten from two starts at 1800m and you have to trust the stable will have him ready to go.
(16) Amelia’s Jewel is an excitement machine, and she was brilliant when winning the Guineas from well back in the field. Barrier 1 poses a new problem for her but with any luck in running I think she has the X-factor to measure up to the topweight.
(15) Bustler went down fighting behind AJ in that Guineas and would have lost no admirers off that effort. He can land in the lead from the wide gate and will just need to run out a strong 1800m.
(10) Trix Of The Trade is deadset airborne, and it was a super impressive win last start in the Railway. Is proven over this trip and will just need a touch of luck from the gate.
(14) Treasured Star has to come into the numbers with Pikey in the saddle. Had no luck in the Railway and can bounce back today.
