October 11th 2022, 5:49pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Betting Tips

It’s Thousand Guineas Day at Caulfield on Wednesday as another Group 1 race greets us as the Caulfield Racing Carnival extends on.

The track has dried out unbelievably and its currently rated a Good 4 as of 9am Tuesday morning. Race one gets us underway at 1pm.

Brendan Bunworth brings you his best bets for the day!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 12th

Race 1

(1) Rediener for Chris Waller comes across from NSW and he is a colt that enjoys the firmer surface.

Getting first use of the track might assist him here after Warwick Farm win and Rosehill third recently. He is fourth up here and 100 percent fit, and the Waller stable may have had this race penciled in from the start of the campaign.

(6) Ferrari Man for the Waterhouse & Bott combination is another who will be fully fit after three runs in this campaign. All of those races were on rain affected tracks however and he is naught from one on the dry.

(7) Powerful Eagle is going for two in a row in his second race this time in. He was backed to win at Pakenham on September 22 and didn't let punters down, but this race is harder.

(4) Watadeel for Philip Stokes won easily on the Heavy surface at Geelong but is untried in race conditions on a firm track.

(1) Rediener WIN

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 2

(1) Herman Hesse has won four from 11 races on Good tracks and his run when third at Rosehill last start was good against a couple of smart ones. Herman Hesse beat Saracen Knight at Rosehill on September 10 and Saracen Knight did go on to win on Caulfield Guineas Day after starting favourite.

(3) Verimli ran second to Saracen Knight at Mornington on September 24 beaten 2.75L. He was unplaced in his only run on the Good surface.

(5) Caboche hasn't won in 10 starts but does enjoy the firmer tracks.

(6) Kissinger is in very good form and will be running on from the back. He got the money at Bendigo last week and he is very fit now.

(1) Herman Hesse WIN

$4.60 (2 Units)

Race 8

(3) She’s Licketysplit won the Group 2 Manifold Stakes on October 1 in very impressive fashion. In that race she had a pretty good run settling third and from barrier five she should be able to hold a similar position in this race. Damien Lane sticks with her and she will have to make up over four lengths on Boogie Dancer (favourite) after it beat her two starts back. That was on a Heavy 8 track that day so it’s totally different conditions here.

(5) North Star Lass was third in the Group 1 Flight Stakes on October 1 and she is another who will be vying for a forward position around third or fourth early with She’s Licketysplit.

(7) Madame Pommery was excellent two starts back in the Group 2 Tea Rose when beaten less than half a length behind Zougotcha. She had a wide barrier that day but stormed home. Will be running on late again.

(4) Boogie Dancer has won four from six but hasn't raced on a Good track yet. Obvious danger.

(3) She’s Licketysplit WIN

$4.40 (2 Units)

Race 9

(16) Roots is going for three in a row after two impressive wins at Canterbury and Warwick Farm. Both of those were on Soft tracks but he has won on the Good previously. In his wins he has settled around fifth and there is no reason why James McDonald can't do that again from a good barrier in two.

(19) Cap De Joie is a good chance if he gains a run and is another who has a good barrier (four). Trainer Nick Ryan has had an excellent 12 months and rates this horse amongst his best. He is one from one at the distance and will settle back if he runs.

(8) Chaillot loves dry tracks having won four of 11 on them. She has won 5 from 14 starts and is another who will power home.

(7) Foxy Frida should enjoy the conditions and she should be ready to fire third up for Damien Oliver. I think she will win a race on dry ground in a few weeks’ time.

(16) Roots WIN

$4.20 (2 Units)
